I don't know him very well, but I didn't want anything to happen and have that guilt. I'm just worried I came across as pious or judgmental or something. I just told him we (my friends) and I were headed the same direction, and if he wanted to hitch a ride he was more than welcome. Does that sound ok? I just feel kind of bad cause I don't know him that well. Thanks.

Has anyone ever had an experience with a saint they had never seen or heard of before only to then come to find out who that saint was?

My brother saw the face of a bearded man one time while meditating (he was into New Age) and later (after returning to the Catholic Church) saw a picture of a saint, only to find out it was the face of the man he had seen (Saint Sharbel Makhluf, a Lebanese monk/priest who lived in a Maronite monastery around the end of the 19th beginning of the 20th century).

A friend of mine had a dream of a man in a brown robe holding a Bible with a baby standing on it, only to find out later it was Saint Anthony and the baby was Jesus. He also wasn't a practicing Catholic at the time and had never seen or heard about Saint Anthony before that.

Anyone else have stories of saints they can share?

i am 23 and have severe spinal scoliosis. though i am not dependant on my family and lead life like any other 'normal' human being: running, playing tennis , driving etc

though i am deformed i have a very pretty face as everyone tells me. i am an engineer and will be going for my higher education to canada this year.

a couple of months back my girlfriends introduced me to a guy and we spoke on the phone a number of times. he told me he thinks i'm very intelligent and witty. however when we met in person, after a month of talking on the phone and internet he said we can be nothing more than friends.

this has been a blow on my self esteem and i feel so low.
will i ever end up getting married?

Hi all. I am a translation student. My teacher had asked me to search for The relation between reading comprehension and Translation. Does any of you happen to know any source for this research? I'd appreciate it.

Before you all answer, please hear me out on this one.
People say there are over 2,000 sightings a year. Think about that for a second. You mean to tell me that NOT A SINGLE one of the witnessess have been able to snag a logical photo. I have seen some pretty compelling things online, but nothing "shocking." Nothing that makes me quiver in my chair. You know?

Here is my point...
Out of all the bigfoot witnesses, not a single one of them have gone out on a limb and tried to touch it...snap a photo of it...throw somthing at it....heck, even kill it. You would think somebody, somewhere would get 50 guys togeather and go find it or somthing.

Bottom line:
All these sightings/witnesses and no "award winning" evidence. I can't help but to think that somebody would eventally go out and try to put an end to this delema..OR...ON ACCEDENT do somthing that proves it is real.

Catch my drift? I am very serious about this question. "Real" answers please...

Thank you

Why people with mistress' and mistress' is running free, while people with more than one wife are put in jails?
No one scream about Bill Clinton or Jesse Jackson with mistress', but Mormons are pick on for a short term practice of polygamy?
It seems having many mistress' is OK, and having legally married wives is a crime.

In responce to proudhindu... lets see

We installed a rail system (which your still using today)
We gave you banks.
We trained most of your early scholars (Ghandi was qualified as a lawyer in a british university).

I think its safe to say that what we've done for your country we have discredited by the attrocities, but YOU wouldn't have electric, the internet, a computer without the advances we gave you.

Britain dragged a barren country like India 200 years ahead of itself during the empire and if you watch the documentaries, it doesn't appear that a great deal has changed since.

What does this quote make you think and feel?

"Q. What does Islam say about Fundamentalism?

A. Basically, Fundamentalism means ‘sticking to ‘fundamentals of any religion. In this sense the Jews, the Christians, Hindus, Buddhists and Muslims can be fundamentalists. But sadly, the term ‘Fundamentalists’ has been linked to militant Muslim extremists who indulge in disruptive activities in the name of Jehad. That’s not true. Islam does not allow disruptive activities."

Hey, maybe it's like being straight or gay--you're born that way.

“An American molecular geneticist has concluded after comparing more than 2,000 DNA samples that a person's capacity to believe in God is linked to brain chemicals. … Studies on twins showed that those with this gene, a vesicular monoamine transporter that regulates the flow of mood-altering chemicals in the brain, were more likely to develop a spiritual belief. “

Do you not realize how oppressed you are? Your leaders say "the man and the women are equal partners" but they treat you the opposite of that. Actions speak louder than words. They can say you're equal to the men, but do you feel that way when there are only men up there on the stand during sacrament meeting, when only the men have the priesthood, when the man presides OVER the family, including the wife. How can you remain in a church that puts you down like that??? Why???

I was raised mormon, so dont say i dont know what i'm talking about.

Open your eyes and see what your church REALLY teaches.

This is the title of a book I bought at an estate sale for $1.00. It is authored by Lloyd Mallan, eminent science writer and editor, who has investigated a wide range of technical reports and has interviewed top ranking research scientists to arrive at the truth about smoking. LIsted are at least 50 top scientists, doctors, chief bio research consultants, and, let's not forget the American Cancer Society. This was published in 1966. Turns out, smoking does not actually cause lung cancer, as long as you use water soaked or cellulose-acetate filters.
AHHHHHHH..... this is just science at it's best. Let's all enjoy a cigarette, and discuss some hard science and oddball religion.

I looked up the word Easter in the Nelson Bible dictionary and learned that the word "Easter" (as mentioned in Acts 12:4) is a mistranslation of "pascha," the ordinary Greek word for "Passover." As, you know Passover is a Jewish celebration not a Christian holiday. I think human hands, all to human, had played havoc with the Bible.
From the brief points mentioned above, and the fact that Biblical scholars themselves have recognized the human nature and human composition of the Bible (Curt Kuhl, The Old Testament: Its Origin and Composition, PP 47, 51, 52), there should exist in the Christian’s mind some acceptance to the fact that maybe every word of the Bible is not God’s word.

The Australian Aboriginals have a creation myth that is intimately linked to the land. They have never considered themselves the owners of the land, but a part of it, and it a part of them.

They have been successful in applying their beliefs and storys to form this relationship with the land, and with each other, for over 50 thousand years.
Until white settlement, they had no concept of your relatively new creation myth fabricated in the middle east around 2000 yrs ago, and were a successful and well adjusted society before the pyramids were even thought of..

To claim your beliefs are the one and only true beliefs are so incredibly ignorant and narrow minded when other far more ancient creation myths are also on the table. They are no more or less real than your creation myths, yet they don't ram it down everyones necks or claim the only truth..

Christianity looks very insular, ignorant, self serving, arrogant, and confrontational compared to more ancient myths.
True..??
