Irena Sendler. An unfamiliar name to most people, but this remarkable woman defied the Nazis and saved 2,500 Jewish children by smuggling them out of the Warsaw Ghetto. As a health worker, she sneaked the children out between 1942 and 1943 to safe hiding places and found non-Jewish families to adopt them.
I am not Jewish, but what this woman did was remarkable. If there is anyone who fits the description of "hero" it is this woman.

My hero is (are) all of my children. I came out after having four kids. They are all strong, accepting and able to hold their heads up high because my sexuality isn't the measure of a man, it's the man alone and his actions that make the difference. My kids get that and for that reason and many others, they are all my heroes!

My father is MY hero. He raised me to be the man I am today and I can never thank him enough for the love he continually gives me even when I don't always do the right thing.

Abraham Lincoln, Mr. "with malice toward none, with charity for all." And he really lived those words! Plus, Abe was an accomplished wrestler and very handy with an ax, which are not common skills among modern presidents or other hero-types.

That women there:

My hero is Rose McGowan. Because she's not afraid to speak her mind.
She's gorgeous, but doesn't need to flaunt it. Yet has confidence.
She does unbelievable charity, and doesn't get and media attention for it because she keeps a low profile.
She's openly bi-sexual, and doesn't care what other people think of her.
She was raised in the Children of God, a rel;igous cult that usually even molests it's member and ran away at 14, to the U.S.
She's amazing in every way. And she doesn't even get credit for it.
I'd like to say, someone like my mom, but my mother is a hella *****, I'd be lying.
Rose McGowan needs wayyyyy more recognition, god KNOWS Angelina Jolie gets her share!

My other hero is Jack Kevorkian,
He went to jail, for helping senile pain ridden people 'commit suicide'
He's an amazing man, not a murderer, he didn't shoot them, he helped them, he gave them a chance to leave this earth wit dignity, and **** anyone who says he;s a murderer.
******* kudos to him!

I have lots of them, but right now I'd say Gregory Peck. I have several DVDs of movies he has made, and they include interviews with him under "special features." He made some pretty courageous movies in his time, including "Gentleman's Agreement" and "To Kill a Mockingbird." I also thought he was brilliant in "The Boys From Brazil," the only time he played a villain, I believe.

Lenny Skutnik is my hero. He risked his life to save strangers and inspired others to do the same. It couldn't have been easy for him to plunge into the icy water but he did it.

My Dad, because he worked as a scientist, he's very intelligent, very rational, very calm and controlled, great sense of humour, gentle, kind, generous, appreciates culture and knowledge, always prepared to help out if we need a babysitter - in short, a great father.
