I was introduced to my in-laws prior to my wedding 11 months ago, because I come from a different state and I met my husband during travel and working abroad.
I thought we were getting along, But i was hurt to learn that my SIL and my MIL were talking behind my back and pretending that everything was O.K in my face. When I confronted them about the tension going onthey found faults in the samallest things , and we realised that we don't have anything in common, even we all grin and bear at family reunions. they even blamed me for being too bubbly, when i just wanted to be friendly and make everyone to feel comfortable about my newness. I guess my bro-in-law's galfriend was being jealous bcoz she has been longer and I was stealing the show, and I consider myself charming and attractive. Anyway, to get back to my question, can I forgive them, but not feel obliged to see them all the time, knowing we have no chemistry. I have the liberty to choose my circle of friends and positive energy.

If so many Protestants say that Catholics aren't Christians is Christianity still the world's largest religion? They'd drop down to a little over one billion if you don't count the billion Catholics. that would make Islam the world's biggest religion with Catholics second and then the Christians..

How to live a holy life? How to worship Jesus? How does the revelation of the Apocrypha writings *change* what I do now as a Christian living for God?

How can I be sure these writings are truly inspired by God?

Like, “What does a Mormon believe?”
Or, “What do Buddhists believe?”

Does this bother anyone else? I mean, it’s not like you could write down the answers to these questions to in a few minutes in the little answer box. Aren’t these questions a little inappropriate and much better to ask in a Google search engine? I once saw a guy ask a question like this and the COMPLAIN when the answers were “too long”.

Reminder of the Question: Do you think it is a bad idea to come on to R&S and ask overly broad questions about religions? Is it just lazy?

I know this is the R&S section & that I'm an atheist who's probably looking for help in the wrong place, but I would appreciate answers that didn't involve "tell her that the Lord will be her strength and solace". I'm asking here because I know people here, because they might be willing to give me advice. I've never been good at handling bereavement & I don't want to be a total schlub to my Mom, so I'm looking to my online friends for any advice I can get.

If you can, tell me how you did it.

If you can't, then how do you expect me to choose to believe in God?

Science is not perfect. I agree with this. It is not the be all and end all of the world. However my argument is that Science is the most functional and applicable "doctrine" available today. It provides the most hope for the human race moving forward and allows us to predict outcomes in realistic time frames. Alot of theist rag on science saying its not perfect and they are right. However my question again. Science isn't perfect but isn't it the best we got?

I grew up in a Christian neighborhood but i have agnostic parents. Religion was never a issue in my family so i wanted to join the church to find god and be with my friends. I really tried to believe in god. I couldn't do it. I am just not wired that way. Can we really choose our beliefs?

I have been casually seeing a guy for about a month or so. He is 24 and a Physics graduate student at the UW. The entire time we've spent together, we've gotten along very well and have had some incredibly conversations. This all changed about two weeks ago when I was visiting him at his place:

He called me earlier that afternoon to ask me if I wanted to have dinner with him. I agreed to meet him and I made the hour and a half drive to his house in Seattle. When I arrived, we talked for a little while and then he decided to show me a new typewriter he had just purchased. Suddenly, he noticed the "A" key was sticky and decided to pry open the typewriter to fix the spring. He said it would only take a minute and then we would go out to dinner. He ended up taking an hour and we did not eat.

Finally, he looked up at me and said "you don't have to sit there and watch me do this if you don't want to." So, I picked up my purse, told him good-night, and left. He has not called me.

I was wondering if anybody could shed some light on a query I have?. For centuries the public hangman was a person of ridicule and hate, despised by the populace and shunned by all decent folk.
Then by the late 19th century they had almost turned into cult figures, culminating into the Pierrepont dynasty, I’m not entering a debate on the validity of public execution, would just like views as to why the change in concept.

Smelyakov and Karpenko artificially divided the Long Count calendar in 12 intervals that decrease in length by means of the Golden Mean ratio, the Auric Time Scale series. The separation epochs of these 12 time intervals are: 3114 BC, 1146 BC, 71 AD, 823, 1287, 1547, 1752, 1861, 1929, 1971, 1997, 2012. These dates were called the bifurcation points of the Auric Time Scale.

The epochs that were found quite perfectly seemed to correlate with:

Clustering of global natural cataclysms such as severe Earthquakes, volcanic activity, space phenomena such as supernovas.

Islam means the "Voluntary submission of ones will to the will of Allah".

If the "voluntary" part is taken out then their conversion is NULL and VOID.
