And why is this sin passed down to babies who havent had a chance to sin, much less understand its meaning?

This is a serious question. As I understand evolution, life started out as single cell organisms that reproduced by splitting itself. It seems that for sex to evolve, one of these organisms had to mutate male genitalia. And even though life has been on Earth for millions of years, at the same point in time, and at the same place on Earth, another organism had to mutate female genitalia. And they had to meet and know what to do with their mutations. And they also had to mutate the working parts to produce sperm and eggs at the same time they mutated genitalia. The female also had to at the same time that she mutated genitalia and eggs, also had to mutate a womb and mammaries to feed the child. And assuming that all this happened, it seems that "survival of the fittest" would tell the couple to kill the kid because he's slowing them down and taking their food. It just doesn't seem plausible. Does anyone have serious answers to this question? Thank you in advance.

Yesterday someone posed the question of why it took Richard Dawkins 350 pages to prove the non-existence of god. In my answer, I said basically that I could completely defeat any claim the theists make with just two words:

Says you.

You claim there's a hell where sinners and non-believers will be tortured forever?

Says you.

Faith in the sacrifice of Jesus will earn you eternal life in heaven?

Says you.

Your bible is divinely inspired -- regular mortals were just taking dictation directly from God?

Says you.

With no first-hand accounts, no empirical, objective proof, it's all any of their arguments ever amounts to.

Says you.

I'm curious about what other short, to-the-point refutations (preferably just one or two sentences) other atheists use when dealing with theists. And to be fair to the theists: can you offer an equally succinct proof for your side of the argument, if your god is as omnipresent and obvious as you claim?

What do you think,,
In many cases it seems to me that there can be negative undertones to the act of hypnosis. be it spiritual or whatever.

Do you have a spiritual or biblical perspective of whats behind this practice?

Something tells me, many types (not necessarily all types) but many types of hypnosis are unhealthy to the partaker.

i affirm that some types may be helpful, but i want to peer a little deeper to see what is really going on.

When you have a new account you only get to ask 5 questions. Well guess what I do nto have to wait to get to 250 ponits to go to level 2 becasue I have 2 yahoo accounts where I can ask five each. What i mean is, i am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons), and my best friend is a Catholic. While I do not know much about his religion, I have heard a lot of resentment towards the Catholic religion, just like I hear a lot towards my beliefs. Is it because both are the only relgions (that I can think of at the moment) that claim to be the one true church?

I just don't know why the Catholics get this judgement before anyone actually finds out about their religion. And no one tell me it is the Catholic priests. I don't like it when people base an entire religion when just a few people mess up. Everyone makes mistakes.

**Another note** one of the things that made me think of this is Mitt Romney running for President. A lot of people said he could run being a Mormon, because Kennedy ran and he was a Catholic. I just don't know.

This is in no way a dig at this family, i have a 9 year old daughter and if god forbid she ever went missing i really dont know what i would do.

Anyway does anyone out there think that a lower class family from a council estate would recieve any where near the same level of financial and emotional support as this family.

I feel that a poorer family in a similar situation would be criticised a lot more, possibly arested for child neglect.

Again i must say that this is not a dig at anyone i truly feel for these people, i just want to know if anyone thinks the same.
