The original sin refers to the sin of Adam and Eve when they ate off the tree of Knowledge and disobeyed God. It's the sin of our original parents. The link below has more details on this original sin.

It refers to the bible, when God told Adam & Eve not to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Since they did eat from that tree, they were disobeying God, and that was the first, or "original" sin commited by man.

Christianity considers all men & women to be sinners from birth, or more accurately (since a newborn obviously hasn't had the time to have sinned yet) all men & women lack the ability to not sin.

Bear in mind that while these events are in the old testament, Jewish traditions do not hold with this definition, so this is strictly a Christian definition.

The original sin is PRIDE.

As the saying goes, "Pride comes before a great fall." Just as the previous answers said, Adam and Eve thought they knew better than God then disobediently ate from the tree of knowledge. It was their pride that did them in.

We inherit this as babies in that we inherit the consequence of sin in the world all the way back to Adam and Eve. The consequence of sin can be understood as the continued ache of a broken toe. You broke your toe on the coffee table (sin), you were very sorry you did it (repentance), you moved the coffee table so you never did it again (penance), you forgave yourself for being clumsy (reconciliation), your toe heals some but aches the rest of your life (consequence). This is a lighthearted explanation of the consequences of sin because of course it is no sin to accidentally break your toe.

Of course sin leads to eternal death but the consequence of sin is only temporal, or for this world. Your toe will never ache in your resurrected body.

Yours, Grace

The original sin was disobedience in the heart of Eve. The actual bite of the apple was the physical appearance of the sin, but the sin was committed when she decided to do it.

The nature to sin is within us all, because it is taught to our children by us. A newborn is perfect and flawless in everyone's eyes ... what could be more beautiful than new life? But, that perfect little being will be instantly changed as soon as it hits Mommy's arms, because mommy is a sinner from way back and will teach her little precious baby to sin just like she did. Whether she knows it or not.

The fact is, children learn from their parents. Including how to sin ... this is what is meant by being born into a sinful nature.

Disobedience. Because we are by nature pure spirit souls, so the original sin was our disobedience to God, and as result we get this material bodies, in which death is imposed. The babies, obviously they have no sinned in this present life, but we understand that because they get material bodies, they have sinned before they get this present material body.

The original sin commited by satan and also Adam and Eve was the sin of pride which lead to them not just disobeying God but actually declaring they were as God Himself.
All human beings are born with original sin because it stained all of creation and as Adam was the head of creation then it follows that this was transmitted to all of his seed down through all generations.

Coveting Knowlegde! It was no sin anyway, it was actually good that "our first parents" ate from the tree of knowledge, otherwise we would still beliving in the stone age.

There is no "original sin". Neither does the Bible refer to an original sin.
