Are you speaking of the Holy spirit or the so-called 'human spirit'?

Well, you are in some deep water here friend. The soul, and the Trinity are pretty heady subjects and most of the time sound a lot like spiritualist jargon.

For the soul. I think of it as my essence. My eternal part that will not go away even after death. This is not my doing but God's. We only face a physical death the soul has one of two destinations.

Now for the Trinity. Aside from God walking with Adam and Eve in the Garden and Jesus time on Earth God is more felt than seen. I have always felt the presence of God when I really read the Bible, go into nature, watch my children, and even Church.

The Spirit of God is what leads people to find salvation. To truly evaluate their lives and see that it is lacking. When you know you have done wrong or a questionable act it is the Spirit that will not let you rest till you make amends. The Newsboys wrote a song a long time ago called "Spirit Thing." While humorous the song makes a lot of sense.

Check it, some people we're around brings us joy cause they have a joyess spirit, some we dont like to be around cause thier spirit gives off an negative energy. Basically spirit comes from a Hebrew word "Nefish", which deals with the personality, which branches out from a persons energy force they house. The spirit sparks the blood, which is what keeps your blood moving throughout the body and keeps the heart pumping, which is basically your life force inwhich everything has including animals, trees, insects, rocks etc. Now the Soul is a different story. It comes from a word in Hebrew "Rooahk", which is wind, as we relate soul to our Emotions= Energy in Motion which governs our feelings.. Now some of ya'll will take this personal, thus facts which is real truth is much more needed in this day in time than merely sugar coating to spare someones feelings. Not everyone has a soul. Those that do motion is rythmatic, and it spawns into thier creativity in music, cooking, down to thier walk. Yea thats right, The Nubians are the soul bearers thus are known as the soulful people that has mastered the art of soul food etc. Soul in latin is Sol, which actually means Sun, thus we nubians here people say all the time that "N*!!*s draw heat, thats our inner sun called the solar plexius. Now some will say, well how do caucasians feel, its through boosting up thier adrynelin by doing things that people with souls dont do for the most part like, jumping over 20 cars on a motor cycle, wrestling with alligators, jumping out of planes for mere sport, and many more crazy things that they do naturally, all along Nubians are looking like "Im not about to do that crazy s!**!"

I think in the context of a human body, the body is (well, obviously) the bit people see (or don't see if they are wearing clothes...), the soul is the personality of someone, and the spirit is the bit that makes someone alive. Whether the soul and spirit are separate bits to the body or just a word to describe the job the brain does, no one really knows.
If you think of a human as being a representation of the Christian God, you can see each part of the human in that way too, because you have Jesus, the body, who you can see, God-the-Father, the soul, who has the personality of God, and the holy Spirit who is the one that makes Christians 'alive in Christ'.

Genesis 2:7 gives details about the creation of man. It says that God formed his 1)body from the elements of the earth, breathed into him a 2)spirit, and he became a living 3)soul.

So man was created with three "parts", each with a different function and that touches a different realm. The body touches the physical universe and is subjected to physical laws and limitations. The soul controls the mind, will and emotions, and works in the mental realm. The spirit communicates with the spiritual realms, and is the source of moral and religious consciousness, and connects with God.

The evidence of the existence of the human spirit is simple. Man alone has the ability to understand moral laws, develop religions, and believe in God. It is that which separates him from the other living creatures on the earth.

It is because man is a three-fold being, touches three realms that God appears in the same way. He dwells in the spiritual realm as God the Father, visited the physical realm as God the Son (Jesus) and lived within the hearts of men as God the Holy Spirit.

Your brain is composed of a few key parts, but let's focus on the two big ones:

The brain stem, which controls the automatic nervous system, is the most "primitive" part of the brain. It is necessary for your heart to beat, your lungs to breathe, and everything necessary for your body to live and grow. It's basic and primal. It is involuntary- you don't control it, it just does it's job.

The Cerebral Cortex is the large two lobed mass that we normally think of as our "brain". It is the seat of who we are, and is the place where we think. It is "you".

When Religions began, they did not know what the brain was or did, but they kind of had a feeling what was going around inside of them, and that these two aspects existed.

So they called the primitive life force that just keeps you going the "spirit". Everyone, every animal, has a spirit. Some believe every object has a spirit.

The "higher" component, the one that is the focus of religious attention, is the "soul". Some believe only humans have souls. Some believe a few select animal species do, and some extend the honor to all animals.

The soul is you = personality, emotions, will.
Your spirit is a substance and life force.
Your physical body houses both your soul and spirit.
After death or during an out of body experience, your spirit houses your soul.

To me the Soul is an acronym meaning Singular Outpouring of Universal Life/Love, it is the individualisation of the All, the Spirit, which to me is the essence (the spirit) of the All, the Divine

I think it is the energy that is within you that makes you alive, some call it the higher self, I know there is a higher self as i had em-power therapy and my higher self moved parts of my body when I wasnt trying to move them, I dont think us humans fully understand what the spirit/soul is, but I think its the energy, the energy in our electromagnetic field around us that some call auras and the energy that makes us alive.

The spirit, i beleive, is felt in times of adversity, when there is nothing but your spirit guiding you through hard times. this is why people say, 'raise your spirits' when your low or 'free spirit' if your free from trouble, worry and strife.
i believe The spirit is your desire, willpower and strength to go on.
i beleive the soul to be a physical Presence of energy in your body, the energy which passes from neouron to neouron , nerve to nerve, the very core of our being which leaves our body when we die and joins the worlds cycle of energy.
