Genesis 2 says God formed man form the dust (flesh) then he breathed into hiam life (spirit) and he became a living soul. Man is created above the animals in the image of god with more than one part...we have an eternal spirit and we are one man not many God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit and he is ONE God!!!

The next verse says "So God created man in HIS own image, in the image of God created HE him" (Gen 1:27). God was alone, but spoke to himself in plural. This is to teach us about the Trinity, which as John wrote in 1 John 5:7 is the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are ONE. So, He counseled within Himself, and He created man, but He said "Let US..."
The image of God is a tricotomy. He gave man a body, soul, and spirit. Notice man is the only creation that it is said became a living SOUL. He is three-in-one, and man is three parts, but not yet is all one. We await "the adoption, to wit the redemption of our bodies" (Rom 8:23) then to be body, soul and spirit with the LORD who made us and redeemed us.

There is a difference between creating and forming. In Genesis chapter 1, God created man and woman in His own image. At this point, they haven't manifested but in Genesis Chapter 2, God formed man and breathed on Him.
On the question of image, man (Adam & Eve) was an image of God until he fell into sin. After he fell into sin, he ceased being the image of God. And that's why Jesus Christ came to the earth: in order to make Himself formed in us so that we may become the image of God again. Don't believe me? Then I have two proofs: 1.) When you look at your mirror you see your image. When you move your hand up, your image's hand (in the mirror) also moves up. If any man(unregenerated) was God image, then he will always obey God and do what God is doing. 2nd proof: The Bible says in Colossians 1:15 that Jesus is the exact image of the invisible God. We need Jesus living in us in order to be the image of God and do what He(God) is doing.

Yes.
God is known by us living in the third dimension as "Father, Son and Holy Spirit", ONE God, three aspects.
Man is: Spirit, Soul and Body..., ONE man, three aspects.
Our "soul" is made up of "mind, will and emotions".
Mind is made up as "consciousness, subconsciousness and automatic response".
Consciousness is made up of: decision making ability, memories, understanding.
and so on....
We ARE spirit like God, we have this soul so we can experience the third dimension of Earth and we live in this earth-suit: a body. The disconnect of the spirit from the body means we cannot "live" any meaningful life.
Man has Free Will choice like God and is spiritually eternal..., with or without God. Our 'words' linked with our intent have great power and we create our own environment by our choices. We are marvelous.., but nothing without God.

"male and female created He them" it continues.
It means God contains and exceeds both genders. It means that humans are Creators, conscious active participants in Creation. It means humans have the potential to be the mirror of God. It means we have free choice. All these concepts, implied in a phrase. Beautiful, even to a someone who is not a believer in the Abrahamic religions.

We were originally created with most of the attributes of God, including eternal life, holiness, faithfulness, goodness, mercy, grace, and love.
We fail at achieving any of these through sin, fortunately God has redeemed us and granted Salvation through His Son.

I believe that Adam was created after the image of God, but when men fell, we were no longer after the image of God, but rather the image of man.
Gen. 5:3 "And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat [a son] in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:"
