Why have working americans always gotten angry at the government for welfare, but not angry about all the money given to other countries? Which is a much larger amount than welfare ever was. I, as a working individual, would much rather help a person who is having a hard time finding a job here-than someone I don't even know about. I would much rather help a family with children who can't support their self than give money to some other country who may later attack ours.

I know this is silly, I'm going to the US in Jan or Fab of next year to study English as a second language, I think my English is not that bad, I understand any American movie or series without translation, but the problem is that I feel like when I go there I won't be able to understand what people are saying and that it would seem like a totally different language when I be there, will I really experience that?.
I text-chat with some native english speakers and I understand everything they say to me, but I've never spoken to them by microphone because I afraid that I won't understand them.

so my question is will it be hard for me to understand when people talk to me there or is it just a false feeling?
I have another question, do people in Maryland and Washington DC have a southern accent or a northern accent?, how about Virginia?

thanks in advance.

Isn't this racist & sexist?I think so.In this day & age,there are such people(I'm not one!),but,they're not green,ugly female creatures who ride on broomsticks.They're regular,ordinary looking people.
I'm talking about how they're portrayed on paper Halloween decorations & Halloween cards.

People speak of helping the children.
People speak as if the entire family abused the children.

Does no one think of the family members who discover the abuse and have no part in it? Do they not also suffer?

If you don't believe me read this:

And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tore forty and two children of them (2 Kings 2:23-24).

If you don't know who Israel is, you don't know God. If you don't keep His law ans say that you know him, you are a liar. The Lord only knows those that Keep his law. R U keeping his Law.

Some people believe that you cannot battle terrorists with battles...and that war is against terrorism is not the answer. Please tell me how we deal with people who are sworn to kill us and everything we stand for in the name of religion...AND...they are rewarded eternally for this actions...PLEASE TELL ME?

In many countries it used to be illegal to deny god. In England before the US Declaration of Independence for example. I think we are moving toward a world with less and less religion. Although the majority of people are still religious, I believe that it is less of a majority than 100 years ago. 200 years from now (assuming no nuclear holocausts) do you think the majority of people will still be religious?
