However there are still many people in need of homes. Like children.

What is your take of this?

AMEN!!! I was dumbfounded when I saw the news this morning! Your reaction matches mine. How on earth can they brag and sing the praises of getting the stadium up and running when so many neighborhoods still look like they are part of a third world country? On the NBC nightly news the manager of the dome said they wanted to change the inside so that when the people returned they wouldn't see what they saw in the aftermath of Katrina! Oh, really!!!!!! The people who were forced to live in squalor and terror in the dome with no food or water, or anything else, for that matter, could never afford to attend a game at the dome. If they had that kind of money they would have been able to leave the city before Katrina hit. Our country has its priorities upside down, inside out and backwards!!!!!

New Orleans main business is Tourism, Conventions and Entertainment. Is visited by 12 million people a year. If Orlando got hit wouldn't they fix the theme parks so that people have jobs? The superdome houses a wide range of events throughout the year that generated much needed business activity. The convention center has been fixed. The port is getting ready to welcome back cruise ships. More than half the restaurants are up and running. People need jobs to come back to. The economy and the infrastructure must be rebuild. The superdome is part of the infrastructure. For the people that complain that the Federal government paid for some of them I have 3 things to say. 1. Federal levees broke and we got flooded. 2. If the feds don't want to pay after a disaster they shouldn't be taxing. Actually we accept not to receive any money and not getting taxed 3. The Feds should stop looting Louisiana's Oil and Gas.

Why do you want one thousand million funds in the previous you help homeless and starving human beings? I volunteer at a protect each and every 3 hundred and sixty 5 days around the holiday journeys. and that i'm merely your straightforward Joe that makes better then $a million.00 and a lot less then $one hundred,000. in case you want to assist out on your community you do not should be a billionaire or perchance a millionaire. Time is better effective than funds. yet im particular you've reliable causes no longer to assist others, because you do not time or have one thousand million funds. note of advice.. once you aspect palms make sure your searching contained in the mirror.

on the surface it seems horrible. But, New Orleans has absolutely no infrastructure anymore. the stadium will bring people to the city who will spend money on hotels and food and entertainment....which whill in turn employ people who feed those children that need homes.
whats the point of making sure they have homes, if there's no way for them to stay in it once they get it? People need to feel self worth, and working is a way to do that. if all the money is spent on builiding houses, then even more will have to be spent for public assistance and these people will be in a vicious cycle of handouts. to make them wait a bit longer for the comforts of home seems cruel, but making sure that there is work for those families is just as important, if not more so.
its just that football seems a shallow way to do it, but it brings in tons of money to a city.
the key is a balance....don't put all the money in any one place. some here, some there, and the result is slow and steady progress and improvement, which in turn will provide a stable foundation for New Orleans to regenerate itself on. Too much too fast in any one area will only result in a shaky base that could collapse all too easily.

I agree with you entirely, and anticipated LadyLawyer26's reply -- and more like it. Business as usual! Where is American compassion. I just asked a question about the genocide in Darfur and got a sick answer about Africans. Has the whole world gone mad? Doesn't anyone care about their neighbor any more? I keep hearing Christians preach their mantra, but I don't see many practicing it! What do these things say our our "Christian" nation?

I thought it was really disgusting that the refugees trashed it in the first place. How the heck could they litter and tear up the place where they were living? Bunch of animals. Shame on them.
