I still think of Afro as a hair style. Better stick with African-American.

Unless they were born in Africa (doesn't matter what your race is) and then became an American citizen, they would just be American. African-American shouldn't signify race, it's a term of nationality.

EDIT: Well, not really nationality but more of continent of origin, but still only if you were born there and still really nothing to do with race since anyone could be born anywhere..

i could look at it greater in terms of monetary imperialism, being abetted by using Multi-Nats. on the different hand, there have never been any declared wars between countries that have a McDonald's. I actually have a touch Libertarian view-element. merely as water seeks the backside point, so does the seek for the form to maximise income. The U.S. and it rather is laissez-faire companies may well be a gadget, even yet it rather is in trouble-free terms one gadget in a toolbox packed with Multi-Nats. it isn't the country utilising the prepare, it rather is macro-economics.

I prefer to be called just American, to say that I'm African American would imply that I was born in Africa.

Either one--BUT ONLY if they are born in Africa and then become US Citizens. If they were not born there, they are just Americans.

Either is fine, but both are stupid. Most black people do not mind being called black, just as white people do not mind being called white.

I haven't the slightest idea. The question you should be asking is "Why do they call themselves "n i g g e r?"

I even find this to be degrading to themselves if they don't respect themselves.
