getting closer to God..learning to better appreciate things in life..helping those who are less fortunate.. being a better person..doing good deeds for the sake of ALLAH and not to be recognized for them..etc...

Hmmm.. Ramadhan is when you get rid of some of the distractions so you can do what's really important during the day(studies, work) and it's also a time when you're suppose to read more du'as (supplications) and to not just read, but study the Quran. All this to please Allah (S.W.T.).
Basically it's a time when we should be proud & happy we are Muslims and to practice all the good things we are encouraged to do in Islam :)

Ramadan is about fasting... not just from food and drink (they're actually the last thing fasting is about), but from everything that might upset your relationship with the almighty God, Allah...
It's about thriving to be kind, patient, understanding, merciful, helpful, etc.... so, what does restraining from food and drink do? Well, it's a physical reminder... that is, every time you might commit a mistake, your hunger and thirst remind you that you're fasting and that you're not supposed to be doing anything bad....
And overall, and after being successful at TRULY fasting the holy month, it becomes a shield for you until the next year... you would keep telling yourself: if I can be so and so in Ramadan, I can be so and so now as well....

it means a time to make up to what i did wrong in the past and month to try to get closer to god by reading the holly quran and do the extra prayers and also to visit Friends and family that i have not seen for long time.. and you?
