I'm having a baby in a few weeks and my husband heard of something called paid paternity leave for the father. Is it a state required thing, or is it something that only a few employers offer?

The newest trend in pageant photos is "doll eyes" where they replace a little girl's eyes with creepy looking plastic eyes. What is your opinion on this?

Okay heres my story..

The girls in my family 16, 17, 18 are all having babies, none finished high school, no jobs, no fathers, they are having these children and then living off of wellfair, they dont even take care of them, they are handing them off to the grandparents.

But they want to have these huge baby showers.

I know its not the babie's fault but I havent been going to any, b/c I dont think its anything to celebrate. But Im getting the gilt trip from my Mom.

So what do you think? Am I wrong for not going?

My daugter is 14 months old and has the greatest personality, always happy and always smiling. My friends have been telling me for a long time that I should put her "out there", and I frequently even get stopped in the mall or supermarket by people who say she should be a model. I did some minor research and ended up emailing two pictures to "Kids Talent Network". The next day I got an email back saying they were really interested and wanted to "talk". Does anyone know anything about this company? Any advice? I think it would be fun but I want to keep it low key (i.e. Macy's or JC Penney's catalog) and I have no intentions whatsoever to exploit my child or make money off of her. Help please!

Do any of you think about how your children will affect the planet in the future? There are 7 billion people on this planet, and the numbers keep climbing. The earth can't even sustain the amount that is on it now, but people continue to have 3,4,5 and more kids. Is anyone out there not having kids, or only having 1 trying to bring down the human population?

Do you do anything to combat it? Use cloth diapers, drive a hybrid, anything to attempt to offset the fact you are bringing yet another planet destroying human onto the planet? I'm just curious if anyone thinks about it at all.

I am about 1 month pregnant, but none of my friends (except for a few who were sworn to secrecy) know about it. It's gonna start getting obvious, so how do I tell people that I'm pregnant? And how can I tell the teachers that I'm not irresponsible?

I am six months pregnant with my second child and I do plan on breastfeeding. I breastfed my first child for only about a month so I never experienced breastfeeding in public. With this child I hope to breastfeed alot longer. My question is for mothers that breastfeed in public. Have you ever had anymore disrespect you for feeding your child? I only ask because I was given a ton of information at my doctors office about breastfeeding and half of it was basically telling me how to defend myself and know my rights. Is public breastfeeding really an issue with some people?
