When I was younger, my father was very strict with us, my sister and I... It seems as though he has this double standard with boys. I'm pregnant with a boy and already he's talking about how he's going to be a troublemaker, and saying that his mother always told him that he was going to have a son just like him... As a mother, this is the last thing I want to think about. I told him, that he already had his children. How can I prevent him from saying things like this in the future from my child? I believe that he could use negative reinforcement and it could be detrimental to my child's development socially and academically.

Please answer all of the following. I am writing about this for my dissertation. All other comments are most welcome. Thanks:

Is it acceptable to have a child through IVF where eggs are fertilised to create embryos before implantation into the womb?

Is it acceptable to test embryos for genetic diseases before choosing which to implant through IVF?

Is it acceptable to test embryos to see if they are a compatible donor with an existing sibling requiring a matching donor before choosing which to implant through IVF?

Is it acceptable to test embryos to see if they will be a boy or a girl before choosing which to implant through IVF?

Is it acceptable to test embryos for desirable traits such as athletic ability or hair colour before choosing which to implant through IVF?

If it were possible, would it be acceptable to 'design' a baby by changing part of the genetic code of an embryo before implantation through IVF for health reasons? And for aesthetic reasons such as eye/hair colour?

Do you think they should get custody of the baby?? I sure as he** don't. Also I know how nasty vodka tastes strait, and I think a baby would not like the taste of it and not take it, so how did that baby get 3 oz in its system?? I think they must have forced the baby to take it somehow. What is this world coming to, God please take the wheel, people are killing their own children, drowning them, microwaving them, stabbing them to death, what is happening to humanity??

the mother's already put a man's name on there that she believed to be the father. A DNA test is being taken for viable proof that the child is rightfully not his biologically. I was wondering if anyone had any websites for more information on what needs to be known and done in order to change the name if it comes out to be someone else's and what steps can be taken to see if it's able to get the name changed to the right father's on the birth certificate.

I am thinking about being a foster parent. My grandparents did it and they raised three beautiful loving kids and ended up adopting one. These kids came from the really bad situations! But my grandparents loved them. I love kids and I'm not married right now and I am wanting your opinions... I live in IL. I do have a job but it is very flexible hours and part-time. The child would have it's own bed room. I was raised with eight brothers and sisters. I have practically raised my nephew so far who is three...please help. Also does anyone know where I might get more information on the internet maybe? Remember I live in IL. Thanks so much in advance for your help.

Ok, I know we all want our kids to stand out, but people, it's getting ridiculous! What is wrong with conventional names? Do you think it's going to be funny when the teacher mispronounces the name in front of the whole class? I have had some crazy names come through my office,( I work in a hospital), like tearston, rage and foreign for boys. Not to mention normal names with crazy spellings, like Dannyelle (pronounced Danielle), Kalleigh (pronounced Callie), and Keightl'nne (pronounced Caitlin) Who cares how it's spelled? What happened to Maggie, Ashley, and Joshua? So my question is, are we trying to be too different or am I just too conservative?

I have been teaching my daughter sign language since she was an infant, and am now doing a research paper for a class on it. Finding research on the subject has been difficult, and I live in a small town with a super-small library (no help there). I would love to find out more information. Any good books, wesites or other information would be great!

I asked for peoples thoughts on Nuvaring and one of the answerers said "To be honest with you, I think its crap. My sister and 4 other friends have got pregnant while using it." And another one said "I was using that when I got pregnant with my youngest child. If I had been on something that was actually worth a crap, I wouldn't have gotten pregnant."
Any other stories/thoughts? After doing my research it sounds like it is just as reliable as some of the other BC pills/patches, but I guess you can't always trust what you read.

Should I have saved some cookies??
Okay so this is the deal....last night at work the people in administration delivered plates of Gingerbread cookies for the Holidays. There were 12 cookies on the plate and there are 21 people in the department. Well the corridinator got ALL bent out of shape this morning because us on the night shift left 3 cookies on the plate. He even went so far as to email the lady in charge of distrubuting the cookies. I honostly didn't think of making the night shift save some for next day for the morning people. They have 8 to 9 people on their shift where I have 5 to 6 people on mine so either way there wouldn't have been enough for EVERYONE! Usually when the dayshift gets something, they let us have "whats left over" which is usually crap that has been sitting out all day long!!! I am curious as to what others would have done in this situation. The coordinator was mad because he didn't get a cookie.

I read on one of these other questions that there was a girl who was using a needless syringe to extract semen from her boyfriends used condom and then injecting it inside of her. I mean seriously people how gross can you get? First and foremost can this actually get someone pregnant? I wouldn't think it would be a very healthy thing to do seeing as the high risk of infection and what not. But seriously what the heck are the chances that this girl could accomplish her goal in getting pregnant? And what is today's youth thinking no a days, it is just sad at the amount of young girls that want to get pregnant. I think this girl was 15 or so. Goodness it just makes me cringe that someone could actually do this.

I am a week away from aunt flow supposing to start, I have been feeling so so so tired like today I can barely keep my eyes open, my sleep patterns haven't changed at all. I have been having crazy dreams lately. My boobs are a tad bit sore like they are more achy, and I am having mild to light cramps in my lower tummy. I am starting to get hungry more often like last night at 2am I wanted something to eat my tummy felt like I was starving. I used to love chicken and rice could eat it at anytime and I made it last night for dinner and couldn't eat it because it tasted funny to me. I do have an increase in cm, and my cervix is still really high and also very soft almost blending in with the other parts up there, it is slightly open but barely. Could this be early pregnancy symptoms or could this mean my body is about to surge again.

PLEASE BE HONEST, i really want to know what people think of the name.

My husband & I are trying to decide if we should have another baby. Our son is 2 1/2 & I would like to start trying soon so they aren't too far apart. I am hesitant for many different reasons...the main one being I don't want my son to feel unloved or that he isn't as special anymore...I'm afraid of loving another one as much as I love him. I'm afraid of not being able to share my love.....please help!

I have not yet been to college. And i am not a mom yet.
My husband works full-time and brings most of the money into the household. Me, i work occasionally at a daycare center as a substitute.

Before we got married we talked about me going to college before we start trying to get pregnant.
No i don't know what to do anymore. My dream job has always been towards medical; nurse (3-4 years of college) or medical asisstant (1-2 years of college).

We really want to have kids and that means me being a stay at home mom at first and later on maybe work part time while our kids go to day care/first grade/school.

But in case anyhting might happen with us (which i hope never will), he said, at least i'll have a job that i've learned at college and can be financially on my own.

No i don't know what to do.
Go to college and wait 2-4 years to start a family or don't go to college and try starting a family now.

I need some advice.
