I asked for peoples thoughts on Nuvaring and one of the answerers said "To be honest with you, I think its crap. My sister and 4 other friends have got pregnant while using it." And another one said "I was using that when I got pregnant with my youngest child. If I had been on something that was actually worth a crap, I wouldn't have gotten pregnant."
Any other stories/thoughts? After doing my research it sounds like it is just as reliable as some of the other BC pills/patches, but I guess you can't always trust what you read.

Just a thought if you are considering bc options. I have a copper iud (non-hormonal) and have been very happy with it. Sure, you have regular periods, but I have lost and kept off a bunch of weight, don't get the headaches and some of the moodiness and other side effects of the hormonal options. A nurse at my gyn office suggested trying something without the hormones and steroids if I wanted to be successful in losing some weight. They last for about 5 years I think and then you can get it replaced. It's only an office visit, no surgery or anything.

Nuva ring is 99% reliable when used correctly, just like any of the birth control pills. Used correctly means left in the vagina for three weeks straight, taken out for one week for your period, then reinsterted the same day of the week it was taken out and etc. My roommate has used it for a couple years and is very happy with it, I have used it for a few months and am happy with it so far. You can't really judge the effectivity of birth control through heresay, you have to know if those people were using it correctly or not. Maybe they took them out throughout the week, or forgot to reinstert them on the same day of the week after their periods.
Anyway the ring is just as safe as the pill, but for either there is a 1% chance that you can get pregnant so nothing is 100% safe. What the ring does allow you to do is not have to remember to take a pill every single day at the exact time, so it actually cuts down human error.
Hope this helps. =)

that is as risk-free as a condom or the different drugs for that. i did not like it because of the edge effects, whether it labored as far as protection. the two way you nonetheless could be careful.
