I have a 8 month old son who will be getting the MMR vaccine soon and I have mixed feelings on the vaccine. I am a nurse and have done some research and know that boys are at a higher risk of the disorder and that the center for disease control and alot of research says that there is no link. My son has had all his immunizations thus far and I he will continue to get them but I am a little worried about all the contraversy about the MMR vaccine. I have been told it can be given at a later age or be seperated into 3 shots. Is this true? What is are your opinions on the topic. Thanks for your help as I am a first time paren.

to be on maternity leave? I know work/finances and other things are considered according to the individual but I'm just curious to know what other soon-to-be moms are doing? I want to be off for at least 3 months. Most likely I'll be getting paid 6 wks and not paid for the other 6 wks. I really wanna stay off for a year so hopefully that will workout while my fiance works two jobs. I don't wanna make him do all the work but he won't mind since I'll be with our little one =] Thanks so much for your answers/input!

My son seems ready for really thin cereal. He is about 3 1/2 months old, but i'm too afraid to try. I made about 1/4 of an oune of thin cereal with barely any cereal in the bowl mainly only formula and fed him ONE bite and he didn't spit it out. How old did you start your kids on cereal, should i wait two more weeks til he is 4 months old?

PLEASE NO RUDE ANSWERS! :)

The new born baby has a very sensitive skin. So its essential to select the best toiletry to suit the sensitive skin. I see Johnsons baby products and Sebamed products around me. I live in the Middle east country and this is all i see in the super markets here. I am yet to check with the mother care shop here which is quite far from my place. I just need some ideas on producuts used for the baby during bath and massage. Any suggestion to make the baby feel good calm and sleep well and also smell good? Also a good detergent that i can use for baby's clothes. Thanks :-)

My son is actually 11 1/2 months old. He sleeps from 8:30-9:00pm to 8:00am and only takes two naps totaling from a hour to two. Lately it has been a hour. Should he be sleeping more or is he sleeping two much. (He's not sick or teething but just two weeks ago we got rid of dummy.)

He's exclusively breastfed, very content/happy and still has wet diapers. I know that bowel movements only a couple times per week are common for breastfed babies but was wondering when I should call the doctor, just in case.

I need to get a high chair for my baby. I'm a bit nervous about this because he HATES his bumbo and his bouncy chair and when I've tried him in a high chair, he hated it too.
At the moment I feed him on my lap, but obviously I can't carry on with that forever.

I fancy one of the nice looking wooden ones but have heard they are a bit impractical!

Just curious
At what age did you decide to start weening your baby and in what year did this take place (cos guidelines keep on changing)
Did you find yourself criticised because others thought it was too early / too late to start.
When, in your opinion, should weening take place.

Hey All...
I'm just windering what was your favorite baby shower gift besides diapers? Mine was somthing my best-friend got me. She filled a diaper bag ( the diaper bag is so cute it has butterflys & flowers on it) with little things like baby pain reliver, gas drops, the snot sucker thing ( i don't rember the offical name of it), bottles ( i bottle feed) a couple things of formula, a picture album, 2 disposable camreas, bibs, 2 onsies, & then she got me a robe,a pair of slippers, & a big thing of my favorite kind of lotion. I LOVE that gift. It showed that she really cared & she put a lot of effort in it :). So what was your favorite gift besides diapers?

My 3 month old has been cleared for cereal. He loves to eat it but I have to give it to him before hes hungry. If I wait until he lets me know, its tooooo late. He screams so hard b/c the spoon doesnt move like a bottle and his belly doesnt fill fast enough. When that happen he chokes and cries harder so I just give him a bottle. Is the common?

My son is 3 days old and having a hard time latching well. Some days he does better than others but he gets lazy and just starts sucking on his tongue. He fakes himself out and thinks he's really eating. I've worked with a lactation consultant and we haven't improved much. I'd like to pump to make sure he's eating enough but once I introduce the bottle will he ever go back on the breast again? He is always chewing on his hands so I know he's still hungry after he "tries" to eat but I just fear he's not getting enough from me. My nipples used to be pierced and now the milk flows out strangely on one side and barely any and only on the bottom part of the nipple on the other. Any advise. Has anyone experienced something like this?
