Don't let anyone make you think this is a silly question. In fact, hospitals used to wipe women's nipples down with alchohol swabs before they breast fed. However, that practice was (thankfully) abandoned some years ago.

All you need to do is practice regular hygiene - shower daily, wash with soap and water, rinse well.

Good luck! :)

No need for that! Just bathe normally - that is all!

Breast milk contains mother's antibodies and that helps fight of germs. So you will be fine.. Skipping the whole boiling / sterlizing routine is one of the conveniences of breastfeeding!

Also, you don't have to do anything to "prepare" or "toughen up" your nipples for breastfeeding. Just use lansinoh on your nipples if they get cracked.

Good luck !

No. Just keep yourself clean, like normal.
Don't sterilise your nipples. You could end up not being able to feed at all.

No, I breastfed 5 children and this is'nt necessary. Just keep yourself clean with baby soap and water. The nipple is designed to naturally self-clean. Enjoy the experience of feeding your baby.
Good Luck.x

Just wash them with soap and water. Make sure that you rinse really good.

Also, remember that you don't want to over sterilize things because babies need germs to get the immune system up to par. And, by that I dont mean for you to let something fall on the floor and not clean it off before you give it to your baby.

Just dont OVER do it.

No, you don't need to sterilize them. Just shower daily, but don't use soap on them because it can dry them out. The small bumps on your areola excrete a substance that has anti-bacterial properties. Therefore they are naturally sterile as long as you have good hygiene. Congrats on your baby.

No, you do not need to sterilise them. You do not even need to wash them before every feed as long as you take regular washes/baths. ****when there is no milk in them, I like to suck them (my partner's) in the heat of the moment ....I have not come to any harm.

No need. When you take a shower though, don't scrub or put soap on your nipples, just water. I breastfed for 15 months and plan on doing it again.

You need to gently wash your nipples with warm water. You can't sterilize your skin as we have natural microbes that reside there for our good.
