Personally I know your ready for him to sleep through the night but it sounds like he isn't ready. Its important for him to be ready. Keep feeding him at night but give him 5 min to settle before you go in. If he's not settled in 5 mins then he really needs you. My daughter is 5 months old and I still get up with her several times a night to breastfeed. She used to sleep longer periods during the night but baby's go through growth spurts etc. And don't feel bad if all your neighbors claim there baby's sleep through the night. Lots of people lie about it. People think that having their child sleep through the night means they are good parents or they have good babies. Not necessarily true.

Even though he is inconsistent, you can do a nighttime routine. It will enable him to physically and mentally prepare for good sleep.
With my son (now 5.5 months, but I have been doing this since he was about 2 months), I start quiet, calm activities around 6 PM. At 6:45, we go start our routine - PJ's, Johnson's nighttime cream, diaper change, and some quiet play on the dressing table. Then I put him under his Rainforest gym while I prepare his dinner and he has some quiet relaxation time (I put it on low).
After dinner, I read him Goodnight Moon, and rock him to sleep. Takes anywhere from 10-25 minutes to get him to settle and to sleep, and then he is out for 10-11 hours.
He does stir in the night, and sometimes I need to go and put him in a comfy position and give him back his pacifier and turn his soother and womb sounds bear back on. But he sleeps through - has for about 3 months.
I believe it is the routine and the fact that he is not exposed to a ton of stimulus at the end of the day.
Good luck!

Has he aroutine this worked for my first but not my second we used to do 7,11and 3 o,clock feeds and he slept through with this obvious depending on you,These times worked well for us.Please dont add cereal/rusks to a childs bottle you can causing chocking, not a good idea.If you are feeding your child id say try a little cereal from a bowl before bed.We used to give him a dream feed at 11 it worked a treat, but my youngest didnt sleep right through until he was 18 months of age,but he had reflux.

You could try what I am doing, last night my four month old son woke up 1.5 hours after he ate last. I knew he wasn't hungry so I just gave him his pacifier. If you try to limit feeding him just becuase he cried a little, you can teach him that he can sleep longer. Eventually he will learn to fall back asleep on his own.
With my daughter, it took us moving her into her own room to get her to sleep through the night. I didn't hear every squeek she made (she is s noisy sleeper), I usually only heard her when she was really awake. Turns out I was the problem, because I ran to her crib every time she made the slightest noise.
Good Luck, your son will sleep through the night before you know it.

A way of doin this is to try make him go a bit longer throughout the day for each feed in order to push back his last feed. give him a lavender bath an his last feed could be small size of some warm milk an weetabix followed by a bottle 15 mins later then put him down for the night, worked for my lil girl. hope this helps

keep him on a steady scheduled, make sure he takes a nap early around noon for about 2-3 hours and put baby cereal in his milk before he goes to sleep at night and i guaranty that he will sleep for most of the night. Don't put to much cereal in the milk because this will be something new for him ( buy the rice flavor). Good luck.
