Newborn & Baby - June 2007

My husband and I just had a baby a month ago. I returned to work Monday. My baby was placed in what seems to be a very nice day care center but we dont' think we can afford it. My husband has a cousin that let's his 4 yr old dtr stay with a lady that is much cheaper. I visited her today for the first time. Her house was filled with the scent of smoke. My husband is angry because he feels that I am over reacting by not wanting my baby to stay there because he nor his cousin thinks it's bad. Am I wrong? THIS MAY CAUSE ME MY MARRIAGE IF I'M NOT. My husband say's he will not pay close to $500 a month for daycare. But I will do anything for the safety of my child and his health. Even if it means doing it by myself.

My oldest brother and his wife just had their 1st baby boy they live In cali Our family lives in Texas. They pretty much have everything they need 4 the baby and are bringing the baby to texas in September (he will be 4 months by then)

Everyone in the family of course wants to have a party to welcome the new family home .I am his only sister so I am hosting the party for my brother & his wife. However they are flying in and cannot take back lots of presents ...

I know everyone wants to give them gifts (they keep calling ME) but I don't know how to tell them the baby pretty much has everything he needs, which I have tried to do .

i'd like to throw a gift card shower ya know? or maybe just a welcome home /christening party no gifts required (noting on the invitation they cannot take too many things back with them) OUR FAMILY IS HUGE if everyone gave something there's no way they could travel with it all.. what do you suggest i do ?

I am planning to feed my baby solid food. My baby's doctor told me give my baby 1 to 4 tablespoon of rice cereal.
I bought a spoon that can test the temperature of meal for baby.
Is that spoon a tablespoon or teaspoon?

I am 37 and my husband 44. We have a lovely 3 month old daughter. We do want another baby and because of our age don't want to wait too long as it may be difficult to get preganant again plus the complications as you get older. Are we mad to try again so soon? It is completely knackering to have two children under the ago of 2?

I just began working again due to extenuating circumstances. My son just turned 3 weeks old. ( I work from 9-12) I nurse right before I leave for work and as soon as I get home from work. However while I am at work my husband gives him a 3 oz formula bottle. I would like to give him breastmilk but I don't know when the right time to pump would be. (I can not do it at work) and I am with my son otherwise. How can I get a supply of milk without interrupting his schedule of nursing. (This is my fourth baby and I know just about everything there is to breastfeeding except for this.) Suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Should I wear a bra to bed also? They are tender so I dont know if I should leave them alone or keep them tight...I dunno. Also is it possible to make one breast increase in size to match the other one? The baby and I have a preference for the left side it seems easier to use and she grasps the nipple better for some weird reason. (Its not a full cup larger or anything)

She is refusing to even consider breast feeding even after I have extensivly researched the benefits to breast feeding. She just assumes that her breasts are going to sag a lot more after breast feeding and she is set on staying young looking. Can anybody provide any insight or help? Thank you so much for any help!

I was just wondering how old your baby was when you started feeding them baby food? Did you buy or make your own. If bought, what brand did you like the best? In what order did you introduce foods? Cereal, fruits veggies??

Thank you

i have a 6 1/2 wk old son and im having a bit of a problem. no matter what time i feed him at and no matter what i do, he wont fall asleep until 2 am every night. is there any way of getting him to fall asleep earlier? its been this way for a couple of weeks so he's pretty much on that schedule. twice he's slept thru from 2 am til 8 am but normally hes up again at 5 am to eat. right now hes on a feeding schedule where he'll eat around 9 pm, then again at 12 am and then he's awake for minimum 2 hrs, even if i try to keep him awake during the day which makes it tough because i get between 2 and 3 hrs sleep until his next feeding, am awake with him for about an hour doing that and then have to wake up an hour later to drive my husband to work (he could drive himself but then i'd be car-less all day.. he works at least 12 hrs a day) and by the time we get home he's ready for another feeding.. he later falls asleep around 9-10 am for a few hours... how can i get him to fall asleep earlier?

Then he has had pasta and got hives and then tonight my husband gave him a few bits of his cookie and he got hives again. Could this be something he will grow out of or is this an alergi he may have to live with for every.
