You need to follow the guidelines set forth by the White House. If you go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/#, go down a little bit on the page and click on "Invitations and Greetings" it is pretty well-explained on how to go about getting the President to send a greeting to you there!

Good luck!

The President of the United States of America,
The White House,
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue,
Washington DC, 20500.

Write him a letter. Of course, he'll probably never see it, but the White House has a form letter they send out "from" the president, along with a picture or momento when you write to him. What a cool way to start your life! Be sure as the child grows, you write to EVERY president, so when he is an adult, he'll have letters from every president during his lifetime. That would be an excellent keepsake to pass on!

Okay, I have the REAL answer...

I called the White House...

Okay, well I called the Comment Line at the White House, lol...

You have to Fax your child's Date of Birth, Name you want in the letter, and the address to be mailed to, to the following...

1-202-456-2461 (Fax)

Then they will get it all typed up and signed to be mailed out.

OR GO TO:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/index.html#

and under "Invitations and Greetings" click on the 2nd highlighted word "guidelines".

Then you will be able to select the type of greeting you want from the President and can enter it online!

Isn't there just the slightest possiblity that he has more important business to deal with? Do you plan on telling your kid - Look, a letter from the White House on the day 75 people died in Iraq.

It will be dificult but my friend wrote Bill Clinton in like 2nd grade and got a letter back from Clinton himself. I kno this sound wrong but u shuld pretend like ur a lil kid writing to the president, flatter him a little bit and the be like yea i would love it if u took time out of ur busy schedule to write a letter to my baby brother or sister who jus got out of the hospital. Use ur imagination but dont forget to flatter him.

Send the baby's name, address, and birth date to:

White House Greetings Office, Room 39, Washington, DC 20500

Here is the direct link to apply for it online.... It's faster, I think:

https://app1.whitehouse.gov/greetings/baby

I've done this for both of my kids and it's nice to have for the baby book.... Althought it's not a real signature on it. :) Still it looks nice.
