Hi there. Your doc should be able to tell you when and what types of foods to introduce first. We started at 5months old, and gave single fruits first, then introduced the veggies. You always want to try one thing at a time, like do applesauce for a few days, then pears for a few days. You want to make sure there is no allergic reaction to anything before you try something different. Gerber and beechnut are good. They also have organic if you're into that. Both are equally good in my opinion :) good luck!

I started my daughter on baby food at 2 and a half months, which is early, but I started putting cereal in her bottle so the doctor said if you're going to give her cereal, you should spoon feed her. Of course it was messy at first!! Anyway, Besides cereal, you should start feeding your baby veggies before fruits, try one new "flavor" every couple days to make sure there is no allergic reaction. The first veggie I fed my daughter was sweet potatoe and she LOVED them!! I usually bought Gerber, the only thing about the new plastic containers, they're nice cause they're alot lighter then the jars, but if your baby dosn't eat the whole thing and you're not home. Make sure you don't put the half full container back in the diaper bag, I had peas spill into the bottom of my diaper bag! GROSS! :) Good Luck!!

I started with my daughter when she was 6 months old, and with my son when he was 5 1/2 months. I started both of them with rice cereal, but they didn't take to it so went to oatmeal. They both took a couple of weeks before they really ate anything. Then I started on fruits and veggies, introducing them one at a time, then mixing them together to get more interesting tastes. I made most of my own food, you get more variety that way and its so easy. I did have jar food as well, for when we were eating out or traveling. I used any organic brand, you get more variety again if you use more than one brand. Both of my children were eating pretty much the same as my husband and I by the time they were a year old.

I started my son on rice cereal and oatmeal very thin with EBM at 4 months- ok by his Ped of course. Then at 5 months I gave him 3-4 different veggies, then a few fruits, and now switch back and forth trying new things for 3-5 days to make sure there is no allergic reaction. I buy them in the Gerber plastic tubs and now I have saved some of them and just yesterday started to make some of my own (just banannas, avacado, and potatoes). He just turned 6 months and his Ped says we can start giving him small pieces of finger food or mash up whatever we're eating (even meats). I also started a sippy cup with water. Have fun!

My child is 4 months old and i have started her on rice cereal by nestle. I give it to her every morning. As for solids i'll be giving those to her at 6 months and i plan on buying the organic kinds and hopefully making my own veggies. Which is easy just cook and blend and freeze into icecube trays so you can take what you need :) Just a helpful hint.. that i got from my mother is dont give them to much fruit because they well want them all the time and not eat veggies. Why eat yucky veggies that dont taste good when you can have sweet tasting fruit.. just a lttle tid-bit i plan on following :)

3 wks - mixed cereal with baby formula and put into a feeder. I don't even know if the sell them anymore - but its somewhat like a bottle. Didn't feed them a whole lot - started out with just a few ounces - then gradually increased - then after a month or so - started mixing cereal with baby food - fruits first - i used Gerber. This helped to fill them up more - the formula didn't seem to keep them satisfied. After i started feeding them food - they slept all night... they were content.

He was about 6 months.. I started with fruits..Same fruit for three days mixed with rice cereal... Checked for allergies and moved on to the next fruit... I buy Beechnut, but often times I would make my own from dinner leftovers. I just used the baby food if I was out. My son is almost 1, so not I mix his baby food with small pasta and he can pick it up and eat it.. Sometimes it's messy, but as long as he eats...

My baby started with baby food at four months. That is when my doctor told me to start. She started off with rice cereal, because that is the easiest food to digest. After a week of that, I started mixing fruit in with her cereal in the mornings. I would give her the same fruit by itself in the evening after I knew that she digested it well with her cereal. I wouldn't introduce a new fruit for 3 - 4 days, then try something new. This is the order that I introduced my baby to food:
Rice Cereal (Loved it! Took the spoon away from me and fed herself!!!)
Bananas (she had a little diareaha the first time I gave it to her, but I just mixed it with water and she was fine)
Applesauce (still is her favorite fruit)
Peas (liked)
Carrots (Fave veggie)
Green Beans (sometimes she likes them; sometimes she fusses through a meal of these)
Sweet Potatoes (didn't seem to like them at first; now she likes them just fine)
Pears (loves; they are much like applesauce)
Peaches (gave her a little loose stool at first, but now she loves them!)
Squash (not her favorite)
Oatmeal (introduced this after a month of eating rice cereal. She really likes it. I give it to her with a fruit mixed in every morning!)
I started out giving her Beech Nut, but now I give her Gerber. I prefer the plastic containers that they provide.
Now she is eating stage 2 foods and drinking water out of sippy cups; she is now 6 months old.
Your welcome and enjoy feeding your baby; it can be a fun and funny experience! : )

I started at 4 months and bubs loved it. I started with heinz organic range, just breakfast at first and then started slowly introducing lunch, then dinner. Bubs is now 7 months old and eating 3 meals a day. I make up my own veggies for dinner, but still use heinz for brekkie and lunch.

my baby was a hungry one and it got to the stage that she wasnt satisfied enough to sleep properly and so, i began a little farex (or rice cereal), when she was 3 months 3 weeks old.
at 4 months i introduced things like custards, strawberry yoghurts, fruit purees, HEINZ makes a whole range of foods for babies from 4 mths, now i make my own, but tinned food to start with is convienent and good so you can test your babys likes/dislikes. but i dont think you can go wrong with custards!! (unless baby is lactose intollerent, ofcourse).
i just learnt and listened with my baby and she basically told me when it was time to begin solids. i introduced solids at first, at nights and in the mournings. just if your making your own, then make completely sure that it is very smooth.
