She is refusing to even consider breast feeding even after I have extensivly researched the benefits to breast feeding. She just assumes that her breasts are going to sag a lot more after breast feeding and she is set on staying young looking. Can anybody provide any insight or help? Thank you so much for any help!

It's actually pregnancy that will cause breasts to change, not breastfeeding. In all reality, breastfeeding could help her breasts return to her pre-pregnancy state after she's weaned vs. not breastfeeding.

"Breast involution is a process where the milk-making system inside the breast shrinks because it's not needed anymore. This happens either after weaning, or right after pregnancy if you don't breastfeed at all, or during menopause. When the tissues inside breast shrink, and the skin surrounding it doesn't, the breast can look 'empty' and saggy. Over time, some fat gets deposited back to the breast so it will look somewhat fuller but sagging usually remains"

from this site: http://www.007b.com/sagging.php

"Here's what you may hear: "Breastfeeding makes your breasts sag." Unfortunately, breasts sag all by themselves as you age. Whether you breastfeed or not makes no difference — even women who never get pregnant must eventually face the reality of sagging."

http://www.dummies.com/WileyCDA/DummiesArticle/id-2489.html

"Breastfeeding often gets blamed for the sagging of breasts. Actually, it is pregnancy and not nursing that affects the shape and size of your breasts. Breastfeeding and gradual weaning make it more likely that fat will be redeposited in your breasts, helping them to regain more of their pre-pregnancy appearance (Minchin, 1989)."

I applaud you for researching this and find out how wonderful breastfeeding is for both your wife and your child. More fathers should be as involved as you. Just keep trying to convince her, show her as much evidence as you can. If you don't succeed, at least know you did as much as you could to help her make this choice.

Good luck!

What gives the looks of the breast is the fat tissue that the breasts are made up of and not the breast tissues itself. So the appearance of the breast depends more on the adipose tissues. Milk does not affect the adipose tissues and therefore won't change the breast figure. In fact, when milk is present, the breast tissues also wld engorge giving the breasts firmer and bigger appearance.

With age, all tssues will lose its elasticity and in time will sag. This is evident in the upper arms of elderly people where their muscles triceps seem sagging. Much more to the breast which are hanging out from the chest.

Statistically breast milk increases IQ of breast fed babies as much as 8 points. Therefore if the baby that she breastfeeds becomes smarter and more successful in life, her child will be able to spend for any procedure that will keep her youthful looks as she ages. Science can do so many wonders today. So why trade the mother's looks that will definitely fade away with age with the countless benefits the baby will have from breast milk.

I'm just sorry for U for U seem to have taken the wrong woman to be the mother of ur children.

First of all, pregnancy is a sacrifice and she needs to realize that. If she doesn't want to do what's best for the baby NOW before it's even BORN because SHE doesn't want HER boobs looking bad, then motherhood isn't going to be pleasant. Raising children is a sacrifice and that's all there is to it. Breastfeeding is a BEAUTIFUL act. It creates bonding in ways that go down to the soul. You're right with saying there are SO many benefits.
If she's really THAT concerned about her breasts then tell her that she could always get Mastoplexy (a breast lift) or tell her to invest in a good push up. I guarantee you there are worse things than having saggy boobs. Tell her that what if she didnt' breastfeed and it caused the child to get very sick becuase he/she didn't get all of the antibodies it would otherwise have gotten if she did breastfeed? Are her breasts worth her child's health? I hate hearing women get upset about a little saggage... Pregnancy is pretty much a wreck to a woman's body and her body will never be the same, but that's what you do when you have children...that's the way it supposed to be...things are NEVER the same in good and bad ways.
She should seriously re-consider having children if she's putting her own LOOKS ahead of a child's health.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

Unfortunately... it's not breastfeeding that causes your breasts to sag, it's pregnancy in general from what I've seen.

I'm 23 years old. I understand that slight remorse for what my body may look like after this pregnancy is all over. But at the same time... I understand that my baby will always come before my vanity. If there's something I can do for her, I'm going to do it. I have a loving husband, and I know... that no matter how saggy the girls get... he'll still be there, enjoying them.

Give her the self esteem boost she needs to do this. Pregnancy in general does a number on a woman's body... if she's so concerned about her breasts, you'll need to take extra caution with her on the rest of her appearance as well, I imagine. Good luck.

Also... in this day and age, depending on what kind of woman your wife is... she has options. Breast augmentation is not just a thing for rich people anymore...

Oh my...welllllll, as far as I know, as long as you wear a supportive bra all the time, you shouldn't have any saggy problems. A lot of mommys I know still have a nice shaped chest...AND they're going to look amazing while she's still breast feeding!
Maybe this isn't her only problem... are there possibly other reasons she doesn't want to breast feed?
...what's her work schedule like--or going to be like? What does she do for a living?
A friend of mine is a waitress and she had to give up breast feeding because she leaked at work...I imagine anyone who is in the public eye would feel the same.
Ultimately, the choice is hers...explain that she doesn't have to breast feed full time--she could choose to bottle feed also...but you're doing all you can do.
Good luck daddy!

Well, to be honest, it isn't really the breastfeeding itself that does the damage. Whether she chooses to do it or not, nature will still mean that her breasts will swell during pregnancy and then fill right out with milk after the birth, unavoidably stretching them out a little. So if the damage has already been done, it isn't going to make it any worse for her to breastfeed.
My advice? She should be pleased that her breasts are going to grow - a lot of women permanently gain a bra size or two from a pregnancy, and a good percent of women are thrilled with that prospect, not to mention their partners, lol. If she is worried about sagging, then the best thing she can do is wear well-fitting bras for support. Suggest she can go out shopping to buy some good quality ones to help protect her 'assets', lol. Some women prefer to wear their bras to bed as well during this time - 24 hour support.

Sorry to tell her, but her breast are already being stretched. She could get a very supporting bra and make sure the baby is nursing evenly on both breast. If she is worried about body image she should nurse. She will lose the baby weight MUCH faster. I went from 130 when I first found out I was pregnant with my son to 115 when he was a year old. Nursing just burns those calories away. Plus it is so good for the baby and free!

When a woman breast feeds, she develops permanent milk glands. So her breasts will actually have more substance, not less, assuming she will watch her weight. She won't be saggy-er than she would be feeding formula.

Furthermore, breastfeeding will decrease her chances of breast cancer in the future, help her lose her pregnancy weight faster (especially in the thighs and rear, because that's the fat supply used to make breastmilk) and help her deal with post-partum recovery with particular hormones that send out a calming vibe. She will actually feel, look and be healthier if she breastfeeds!

well from EXPERIENCE that's gonna happen no matter what. Her breasts are gonna fill up with milk anyway and they are gonna be like that for a few days, then they sag. If you breast feed they won't sag until your done breast feeding. They are gonna sag no matter what. Sorry to say but your wife sounds like a very selfish person!

It doesn't make them sag....all the milk that will come in regardless of if she breastfeeds or not, will do that......

But then again, once the baby is weaned, she can always do exercises to get them firm again.....

I'd wonder, and question why she was putting herself before a child.....Breastfeedign is the most natural thing in the world, and the most beneficial event in a child's lifetime.....she's giving that baby her immune system to protect it until it's system kicks in..... Give her this website and tell her to give up her flippin vainty and look at how much she'd be helping her baby.....

PS: All breasts start to sag around 35...... even A cups.....
