My oldest brother and his wife just had their 1st baby boy they live In cali Our family lives in Texas. They pretty much have everything they need 4 the baby and are bringing the baby to texas in September (he will be 4 months by then)

Everyone in the family of course wants to have a party to welcome the new family home .I am his only sister so I am hosting the party for my brother & his wife. However they are flying in and cannot take back lots of presents ...

I know everyone wants to give them gifts (they keep calling ME) but I don't know how to tell them the baby pretty much has everything he needs, which I have tried to do .

i'd like to throw a gift card shower ya know? or maybe just a welcome home /christening party no gifts required (noting on the invitation they cannot take too many things back with them) OUR FAMILY IS HUGE if everyone gave something there's no way they could travel with it all.. what do you suggest i do ?

How about suggesting everyone gives cash or something towards a saving account for the little one.

Have a lovely time - sounds as though you will though!

definately write something on the invitations, Ask them to bring gift cards or savings bonds, and why, most people will understand, and if people do bring presents you could ship it to Cali for them, that is what my sister inlaw did when she had her baby shower in IL but lived in NM

tell them that if they want to get a present for the baby, to get him a savings bond. That's what I get for my neices and nephew's for their Baptisms. It's just a tiny piece of paper that can be taken in a folder or envelope back to California and will be worth money when the baby is older and can appreciate it.

I think no gifts is an appropriate request and then add that they can't carry stuff but that if you would really like to give something a donation to his college fund would be much appreciated.

maybe get everyone to help start a savings account or a education savings account to help for his education when he is older and they can just keep adding to it monthly
