I usually try to trust a doctor's advice for the most part, but there are some things that my daughter's pediatrician has suggested that I'm questioning. What do you think of this?

1.) My daughter is only 4 mo. old. The doctor advised us to feed her rice cereal (as much as she wants) twice a day. I think this is too much to give her right off since her little system is having a hard time digesting it. I mentioned that, and she said, "She'll get used to it."

2. I asked her about when to take her pacificer away and she said, "Let her have it for at least 18 months." I think this is waaay too long, but she said she needs to suck it until all of her teeth come in.

3. She wants us to start jarred foods at 5 months and only wants us to wait two days between introducing the next food. For example, carrots for two days, sweet potatoes for two days, etc. I thought you were supposed to wait at least 5 days between foods to make sure there is no allergic reaction.

My baby is due today, not showing any signs of pooping out to meet us today though. I've heard the vit k injection for newborns is linked with chilhood cancer an luekemia. Does anyone know anything about this?

I have two chihuahuas @ 6 months, boy & girl, both fixed, current with shots, and they sleep in the same room where I sleep and keep the crib.

My plan is to move the two little rascals to the other living room before going into labor.... but after that how will I know my newborn is allergic to them? What kind of signs of allergic reactions should I look for? Please share, thanks!

I would love an occupation that deals with babies in hospital environments. And what is the name of the type of nurse that takes care of the babies in the room where all the newborn babies are in one room and you can look at them from a window?

I am English and my partner is Argentinian (spanish speaking). We have decided on a girls name, but are struggling to find a boys name that we both like. We don't want anything overly English (like matthew or paul) for example, or anything overly Spanish (Miguel, Pedro etc), but a name that is either neutral sounding, or combines a bit of both cultures. The best answer will not only get 10 points, but perhaps the honour of naming our son (if its a boy!)

Yesterday.. My baby fell of the bed & I feel horrible she is 6 months old.. & the worst thing is that I never put her in the bed with me. But I did yesterday. My bed is pretty high & the next thing I remember is hearing a sound & then seeing my pumkin on the floor on her tummy crying. It was horrible shes my 1st baby & I feel like a horrible mother. I took her to the emergency room even though I called the nurse line prior & was told that she sounded ok. She only cried for about 10 mins then was back to smiling and moving around. The doctor told me that I wasnt a horrible mother & that I happens to alot of people including himself. He gave her the all clear.. & just advided me to look out for vommeting.. or unsual behavior.. She has her 6 month check up comin up so I am happy that my doctor will get a second look at her.. But I still feel horrible.. Does any one share my feelings.?

My son has an appointment for the end of the month to get his first set of shots. I am worried about him getting shots for a number of reasons. With my first son I didn't think twice about it. However now I know someone who swears shots caused more problems in her daughter (who is diagnosed with autism, but she had problems BEFORE she got the shots). Now I have been reading up on information and don't know what to think. How did you come to your own personal decision about giving your child shots? So far my son seems to be developing normally, and I would hate to screw him up from getting his shots. However I would also hate for something bad to happen to him by getting sick. My gut instinct is to let him have the shots, but I would hate myself if he had a bad reaction and it changed him. My friend swears against the shots and has her daughter exempted from. I don't know what to do - but I have to make a choice. Any thoughts??

I think that all parents considering circumcision should have to watch this video first.

What are your reactions to this? My friend guided me to this video. I found it shocking. She is a nurse and opted not to have her son circumcised. After seeing it I'm considering not doing so either.

I am looking into adopting a baby girl in a private adoption, she is 3 months old. It will take several months for the adoption to happen, if I get approved at all, and what I was wondering is,is it okay to change the baby's name once you adopt? I know the last name would be changed, but I would like to change the first name too.

FYI, from what I understand the baby was named by a social worker at CPS since the baby was taken almost as soon as she was born.

teeth a child gets and usually has at 6 months to a year. She did not get her first tooth tell 2 months after her first birthday, the second followed about 2 months later, scence then she has not gotten any new teeth. She hasnt even been showing signs of teething. I have spoken with her doctor and he said that as long as her hair and nails are growing, then her teeth would come. this was six months ago!!! She has a dentist apointment in feb, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a child this close to 2 only having 2 teeth and what I should look forward to at this dentist visit. Thanks
