My baby's 8 months old. I feed her Gerber baby food, stage 3. She eats a variety of foods: cereals, pasta, veggies, fruits... I like the baby food cause it's convinient, and it doesn't have a lot of grease or salt... Anyway, my sister in law is always asking me "Why don't you give her table foods?".... Gerber foods are what I like giving my baby, and I see no need to give her "table foods" yet... Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks very much!

Most babies eyes are blue at birth, how long before the true color is obtained? I've heard 7 - 10 days, is this true?

I have read in some books that it's very important to talk to your baby while diapering, feeding, bathing, etc... Well, I do talk to my baby, just not as much ... I talk to her while playing and stuff, but not all day long... I just find it hard, I don't know why...
What can I do to improve this, and how much should I talk to her?

Thanks for your help!

We don't know what we're having in April, but are having a tough time with girls' names. We have a rather long, Scottish last name. First names we like are Caroline, Katherine or Kate, Hannah, Grace and Josie. Any suggestions on middle names to go with those? Thanks for your help!

I was just wondering if bananas would upset his stomach alot? He's teething SOOO bad. I have been trying Orajel, frozen washcloths, teething rings, gripe water, Tylenol... Plus he seems to be EXTREMELY tired. All he wants to do is sleep, but it's restless and he's REALLY cranky when he awakes and wants to go back to sleep. Does anyone have any advice?

I am going back to work and leaving her with my mother-in-law. I left her there once for a day with a bottle of breast milk and the baby refused to take it. When I picked her up 7 hours later, she was starving and obviously very upset. I've tried a few different bottles and nipples and am going to get a few more to try. I've tried giving her a bottle, as has my husband and other people, but she refuses it. My mother-in-law is balking at wanting to watch her while I work because she "cries too much" because she is starving. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions that have worked for them? I'm DESPERATE!! Thanks in advance!

My baby has been with the stomach flu since Friday night. He threw up 3 times yesterday and had diarrhea 3 times. Today he threw up 2 times and diarrhea 1 time. I already took him to the Dr. He is currently taking 2 tbsps of Pedialyte every 5 to 15 minutes. He is getting lots of rest. I check his temperature constantly. Im also switching to Soy formula which I will be giving him about an ounce every 4 hours.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

My daughter is 9 months old and has sleep with my husband and I in our bed since she was a month old. How do I get her to sleep in her own bed, in her own room? And I don't like to cry it out method. Also, she has to have her pacifier to sleep, so she wakes up every time she drops it, so I have to go into her room and give it back to her every couple of hours. Any advice?

My soon to be 5 month old has decreased her formula as of two weeks now. She was drinking 5-6 ounces at a time and now she is only wanting 3-4 ounces. I started solids but I bottle feed first then do the solids so she should still be drinking more than 3-4 ounces. I try to make sure she has consumed at least 24 ounces before bed, but I am still curious as to why she cut down. Has anyone else experienced this? Or does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?

In about a week and a half, my husband, 5 month old baby, and I are picking up some of his family at the airport. Then next day we are beginning a 3-day road trip from Indiana to Arizona.

If you were in my shoes, would you take a 5 month old on the 3-day road trip, OR would you FLY to Arizona (about 5-8 hours) and wait for the others to show up?

Why?
What are the pros and cons?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Kind of a complicated scenario so bear with me.

I am taking anti bitotics for a throat infection. Last night my daughter (13 months) opened her bowels in the night and now she has rather violent nappy rash. Its not the first time she has pooed in the night, but its the first time she has got nappy rash as a result.

I read on some website that if a baby is on antibiotics it can contribute to nappy rash, because the antibiotics kill off the bacteria that usually prevent it. I suspect she may have got some of my antibiotics through my breast milk. Is this at all possible?
