Well, saying something to her would be a good idea it seems but also could offend her greatly. I don't agree with what she is feeding her child and her child is already a lot bigger then I think he should be at nine months. At nine months is when I started giving my son some stuff like mashed potatoes....maybe even later then that..I dont remember exactly. I'm suprised the doctor hasnt said anything about the weight..if she keeps on that path with the baby then he could become overweight and unhealthy. If you say something make sure you word it in a way that isn't offensive and try not to get her angry. I mean it is her child but I certainly don't agree with what she is doing either.

24 # is not a bad weight. My sons were 24# @ 6 mos. But I would caution her against the high sugar food(remind her of the diabetes) & I would definitely waste no time in cautioning her about eggs & peanut butter! that is just down right dangerous. Does she not know this? My oldest has severe food & airborne allergies.... eggs & peanuts are 2 of the biggest allergans. We had to give food allergy shots at home & have ALOT of benedryl & an epipen jr handy ALL the time!! Maybe show her childhood obesity statistics & pictures & the importance of a good diet.

I would have to say something. That is not good food for such a young baby. Ask why she doesn't feed him babyfood or baby friendly foods. he can eat cherrios and goldfish crackers, bits of cottage cheese, yougurt, etc, if she has something against jars of baby food. Sound to me like she is being lazy and really doesn't care or else she just doesn't know any better.

I would in around about way like make suggestions. Or use your wise motherhood and offer to feed the child baby food. I feel sorry for the child's tummy. find some pictures or article's on bad foods for babies and just happen to leave them at her house. Does she go to W.I.C. If you need help with how to get threw to her call it and ask for some information on healthy infant food. I know at 9 months they can eat Cheerios. Good luck.

Oh, my lands!!! How awful!! I once was in a similar situation. the trouble is they think it is great to have a big fat baby. It makes them proud. I told the mother by 3 months and again 6 months, but she did listen. The child grew up to be grossly, morbidly obese. It is awful. The trouble is the mothers won't listen. At least I felt better for having told her. It will make you feel better to tell her, but I doubt she will listen either. It is disgusting to do this to a child, but they feel so proud of their BIG bouncing baby!

Well if you want her to be upset, and if you feel it's for the best for the baby, but will she listen to you? I'm sure the Dr. has said stuff, I'm betting she's just doing what she knows, and if you say something she'll be hurt and you may not be close anymore, just think how else you could approach it, tell you how you've just been to the Dr. for so and so and she/he said no trans fat, only fruit veggies, etc...see what happens, i see people do the craziest stuff sometI'mes but im passive and i don't want to ruin my friendships.

Every parent is going to raise their kids their own way. I say that these eating habits are very unhealthy and I hope that his habits won't continue like this and suffer from obesity when he is older. All you can do is give advice and wish for the best.

Yes you should tell her because this child will have an obese existence and the child is now like a crack baby. He/she probably wants more and more everyday. You have to stop this while you can.

That is disgusting and sad for the child. But I would only say something if you think it will change. She sounds totally wreckless with his diet, and so severely that I don't think it will change unless she is forced into some parenting classes.

If you can be tactful about the way you confront her about it and you think that she will accept what you have to say then go for it. But, you need to be prepared for her to take offense to you and tell you to mind your own business.

I am not saying what she is doing is right but I am saying that she obviously doesn't see anything wrong with it so she might not take to kindly to you stepping in.
