So my mother in law is 60 something and just adopted a 3 month old daughter named Edrianna from Russia. She can barely keep up with our children so it makes me wonder? How old is too old to be raising a child?

I hate to be harsh sometimes, but I tend to keep it honest and to the point.
Did she prearrange who the child would go to incase your mother in law didn't live out her child's minority years?
Did she take out life insurance?
Did she fully prepare for that child's future and cover all required bases?
If not, then, I wouldn't say it's just her age, I would say it's carelessness coupled with her age.
I would take these matters to a professional. This needs careful attention.
Good luck...

If she thinks that she can handle a 3 month old more power to her.....I wish her the best of luck and it is a great thing that she adopted an abandoned child

I think it all depends on the person. There are some very young and active 60, 70, 80 year olds out there. And hey, what better way to stay young is to be around a child.

While you may not agree, try to be supportive. She obviously wanted to do this, so just welcome this girl. And be excited, your kids will pick up your attitude and they should just be happy to have another family member.

It is not your place to past judgment on who she decides to take care of. She apparently thinks that she could give this baby a better home and I have to say good for her! There should be more people like her; regardless of her age!
