My soon to be 5 month old has decreased her formula as of two weeks now. She was drinking 5-6 ounces at a time and now she is only wanting 3-4 ounces. I started solids but I bottle feed first then do the solids so she should still be drinking more than 3-4 ounces. I try to make sure she has consumed at least 24 ounces before bed, but I am still curious as to why she cut down. Has anyone else experienced this? Or does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?

I know that her eating solids will decrease her formula intake but I give her formula 1st then the solids maybe 30 minutes later. I would think if I give her formula 1st that she would eat at least 5-6 ounces but she is only wanting 3-4. Even in the mornings after she has slept 11 hours, you would think she would drink her whole bottle. No she only drinks 4 ounces.

solids will keep her full longer. com time for eating, she probably just isn't as hungry as she was without the solids in her belly.

try going on a liquid diet and see how much more volume you require

You might want to check w/ her pediatrician 1st. But I fed my son solids 1st then the bottle after. I think that baby might want more solid-like food than bottle. As long as she is still gaining weight and not losing, she will be fine.

now lil one is on solids as well as bottle this will make him/her drink less, especially at times more likely day/afternoon feeds. The best way to describe it is like when we have a milkshake then eat afterward then your appetite is not as big and you remain fuller for longer.

all 3 of my kids always did this. I think they would eat a lot and be awake a lot for a few weeks and then eat less and sleep more for a few weeks. I think its kinda like bears hibernating for the winter. The eat a lot to store fat and then sleep a lot and grow. And then it all starts over.

As long as your baby is gaining weight and acting healthy and alert I wouldn't be alarmed. If you are concerned bring it up at your next doctors appointment.
Children eat when they are hungry I wouldn't force her to drink more it would be worse.
