We don't know what we're having in April, but are having a tough time with girls' names. We have a rather long, Scottish last name. First names we like are Caroline, Katherine or Kate, Hannah, Grace and Josie. Any suggestions on middle names to go with those? Thanks for your help!

Those are very pretty first names you picked out. =]

Lynn, Marie, Anne are really popular middle names and go with a lot of things.

But if you would like something more unique try Elizabeth, May June, April or August, Louise, Addison, Helen, Autumn, Abigail, Candice, or perhaps a family name.

Also, remember to be creative. Like if you want to name your daughter after your father and his name is Mac, you make her name Mackenzie.

Hope I could help.

Anne, goes with everything, try to choose a short one, especially if you have a long last name, did you look into Scottish names?

Anne goes good with Katherine..but that's only because I've heard it a million times lol. I'm due in three weeks and our daughters name is going to be Lauren Olivia. I would get a book and see what you like.

I like the idea of using a family members name, such as the grandmother's name/middle name or the mother's name/middle name. But please, don't use Marie, it's so overused! I think it's better to give your child something that's unique and not something that half the population has, but that's just my opinion.

Ann, Lynn, Faye, Hope. What about a family name? Or the mother's first or middle name.

I think a very nice idea (and one that I use) is the maiden name of your wife, or of her mother. It will be unique and can be special to the child when you tell them how important their middle name is. It might sound silly, my daughters name is Emily Jelliffe, which is her great-grandmothers maiden name and she shares that with not only her great grand mother, but her grandfather, her aunt and her dad. It makes it very special. It is special to her and she may choose to continue it. Your child, whether male or female, may start a tradition of carrying on family names! Best of luck with whatever you choose! Whatever the name is, you will love it and love the baby too, and it will be perfect!
