Is there anything they could do to help calm the baby? They were told to put a drop of honey on the soother, but I looked it up and it says that it is not helathy. No, it's not that they aren't feeding her or anything stupid like that.

A Chinese American baby girl born at midnight was disqualified from winning the $25,000 prize because her parents are here illegally.

Instead, the prize went to an American baby. Do you agree with their decision?

My mother wants to get custody of my sisters baby. She is only 16 and had her baby boy a month ago. She doesn't take care of him and leaves him alone in the middle of the night. My mom wakes up to hear him crying. She didn't give him the baby's father's last name or put him on the birth ceritificate. He said he would give up his rights if she wanted him to. The baby has my mothers last name. Where can I find information on this online? I don't know what to look up.

My baby is 6 1/2 weeks old. I have been breastfeeding her only, no formula at all. I was making so much milk I had to pump and freeze the extra. Now all of a sudden for the last two days I am not making enough to fill her up. I am having to thaw frozen breast milk and give her. What would cause a sudden decrease in breastmilk? If it matters I just got my first period since her birth this morning.

My 4 mo. old is formula fed. The doctor told me to start her on rice cereal twice a day. Since we've done this, my daughter has shown signs of being a little constipated. I'm sure it's from the loads of iron in rice cereal coupled with the iron-packed formula. What can I do?

My daughter is 11 months, and I'm going back to work in 3 weeks. I don't want to give up breastfeeding just yet, but I need to get her to take a sippy cup for the hours when I'm at work. Right now she will take maybe an ounce at the most and she mostly just chews on the sippy cup. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I'm in the process of introducing the sippy cup to my 9 month old son. He seems to not really object to it, but ends up playing with it rather than drinking from it. I'm trying to replace one bottle a day (usually at lunch) with a sippy cup. He loves his bottle and knows also that the sippy cup contains his milk, but he usually drinks for a second on the cup and then starts biting and playing with it. He eats baby food and diced fruits, veggies, and meats and some cheese no problem. I'm not going to push the cup on him and just completely take away his bottles at this point, but I don't want him to be 2 and still drinking from a bottle. My mom did that with me and I had dental problems because of it. I want him to weaned by a reasonable age though. What can I do to help him be completely weaned by 12-15 months old?

how good it is! DOES YOUR BABY DO THIS? I can't wait until she's older to give her some bananas, but I will wait. I have fed her about 2 - 4 ounces of rice cereal in her [breast]milk since she was 4 weeks. She was almost 10 pounds when she was born and was never satisfied until she got that cereal. Her napping expression just went to pure peace! What's up with these hungry little babies!? So cute!

Our 11-mo old has 5 teeth now & we've heard we need to start brushing teeth. But he refuses, he clamps his mouth shut & it's pointless to pry it open. I think the only thing we can do is keep trying every few weeks, don't pry open his mouth, and when he eventually is able to speak & understand us then maybe we can start then even if he's 3 yrs old then. Is this OK?

I always had issues BFing my children. It drives me crazy to this day! I will probably NOT have any more children, but for my minds sake, I wanted to know if there is any *medical* term to explain this. I would first nurse arround the clock and make sure I had adaquate fluids, then my babies would all drop the normal "pound" of body weight at the one week check up. I would tell the doctors about my issues with nursing and take home a hospital grade pump. suppliment with fenugreek, and then I would for two weeks or more nurse, pump, nurse, pump... I felt like a machine!! In the end, I have always had to give it up becuase my babies all lost WAY too much weight and I couldn't handle it anymore!
I have ran into ladies who have similar experiences. Sooo, I am just curious.. is there a real MEDICAL concept out there that describes this as a condition?
Any comiseration is appreciated!
