A Chinese American baby girl born at midnight was disqualified from winning the $25,000 prize because her parents are here illegally.

Instead, the prize went to an American baby. Do you agree with their decision?

The rules clearly stated that the mother must be a legal US resident.

I do agree because (as you said yourself) it was stated in the rules that the parent had to be a legal resident. It would be a completely different story if the mom had a green card or a visa or something and the baby was still disqualified, but that isn't the case. The rules didn't say the mom had to be a US citizen, but she did have to be here legally, and as long as that is what the rules stated, I agree with the decision.

Depends on what the rules of the contest say. I'm willing to bet that it said something in there about being a "legal US resident."

if the rules clearly state mom must be a legal resident then yes TRU is within its right t disqualify them,race/ethnicity has nothing to do with it

I never heard of this contest. I would say that was the right decision. I bet in the fine print it did mention that the winner had to be born to parents of a US citizen.

I agree! We already have people coming from different countries taking Americans jobs! If you are not here legally you should not be here and anyone that thinks it's OK should go live in a different country!

Well if the contest is open to US residents only then yes. It's not discrimation it's people not following the rules that ALL CONTESTS HAVE.

I am 100% behind Toys 'R Us on this one. The race card is being played a little too hard on this case, if the parents were illegal European immigrants this wouldn't even make local news.

was it in the rules that you had to be an american citizen? If not then they could sue! Its totally unfair if she won fair and square she should have the prize
