Babies sweat from the time they are born. The head especially is where heat is lost in a baby. For eg if a baby has a temp, its feet will be cold and its head hot and sweaty, and to cool him you use cool water on the head.If your babies hair is wet from sweating, he may be overheated by too many wraps or clothes, remove a few layers until it settles. If it is a temp, then your baby will most likely be grizzly or lethargic.

ABSOLUTELY no way let that baby sweat it out. If the Fever gets too high or too high too quickly your baby can have seizures and develop brain damage very easily. The baby is too young for that. That is recommended for ADULTS not CHILDREN especially of such a young age. Sorry, hubby is dead wrong. That is the easiest way to harm your baby. Standard reasons why babies get high fevers is a definite sign of an infection. You can not sweat out an infection. If you do not keep the fever down the baby generally stops eating and drinking and can get dehydrated very quickly. BY NO MEANS LET THAT BABY OR ANY CHILD SWEAT IT OUT. Keep her at a comfortable temperature. Less clothes the better to help cool her down. I would keep her in a onesie or something light to that effect and cover her with a light blanket.

Hey there,
Hyperhidrosis, also known as polyhidrosis or sudorrhea means excessive sweating; sweating too much
The most active regions of perspiration include the hands, feet, armpits and the groin area because of a relatively high concentration of sweat glands in those areas.
There are two types of hyperhidrosis. Primary focal hyperhidrosis refers to overactive sweat glands that affect certain areas of the body, such as the hands, feet, face or underarms.
This form of hyperhidrosis can't be prevented and isn't contagious because it was probably inherited (although the condition may skip a generation). Secondary generalized hyperhidrosis is total body
sweating prompted by secondary medical conditions or medications.

I know my baby sweats, and he just turned 3 weeks old, and was born 5 weeks premature. I can tell the difference in what makes his clothes damp (the sweat doesn't smell)

From birth. They need to sweat to cool down. I remember when I had my first child. She was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 27th. It was cold, and I was so afraid of her getting cold or sick that I overwrapped her. I had her in her playpen/bassinett thingy and she had crochet blankets all around her and on her. I was right there, so it was ok. She cried and I got up to change and feed her. And she was soaking. I learned then that I didn't need to go to extremes like that and that I needed to take it easy a little more.
