I have two chihuahuas @ 6 months, boy & girl, both fixed, current with shots, and they sleep in the same room where I sleep and keep the crib.

My plan is to move the two little rascals to the other living room before going into labor.... but after that how will I know my newborn is allergic to them? What kind of signs of allergic reactions should I look for? Please share, thanks!

ask your doctor, but dont wait for the baby to get allergic... precaution is better than care..

Thats going to be tough since newborns can be sensitive to a lot of things.

My allergies usually start with red itchy watery eyes, scratchy throat and/or skin, sometimes a rash like hives (little red bumps)
and sneezing.

It can only be assumed you are asking because someone else has an allergy problem ... if not I wouldn't worry too much. I'm not sure you'll have to worry until the baby comes in direct contact with the dogs ... crawling on the floor or couch .. where the dogs usually go. usually babies stay pretty close and not put in much contact with dogs hair/dander, because they're always in a seat, blanket, crib etc.

good luck and congrats on the little one to come !!!

Most children aren't allergic to pets. If you aren't, chances are your baby will be fine. For pet allergies, look for swollen eyes, blotchy red skin, hives, and trouble breathing. Basically look for standard allergic reaction symptoms. With my sister, she gets red puffy eyes, runny nose, sneezing, and blotchy on her face. You'll definately know within an hour of bringing your baby home. A good idea would be to rub a washcloth on both dogs and bring it to the hospital. Rub the cloth on your baby's skin and see if anything happens. At least that way you'll have the baby in the hospital in case a reaction does occur, and your spouse can rid the house of dog before bringing the baby home. Sounds extreme, but its a pretty good option. If your child is allergic, you won't be able to have the dogs anymore.

If the baby starts breaking out in a rash or sneezing when the dogs are around would be a good sign.

All children are deathly allergic to little dogs. You should immediately get rid of them prefereably via a sack, a large rock and a river.
