I know the risk of lifting by one hand. my question reffers to both hands together!

yes, unfortunetly although it may seem fun for your child, there is quite a big possibility of their shoulder's dislocating, tearing muscles

well it depends on what you mean by lifting. if you are jerking or swinging the kid around that way i'm sure there is. but by 6 weeks most babies can support their weight by their hands. i would reccomend picking baby up by the midsection though. and supporting the head if not old enough to do so yet. gonna need more info here.
ok so are you saying you want to jerk and swing an one year old aroung by the arms? what the hell is wrong with you? i have a link, it's to your local pareting help line. if that doesn't work call your local child abuse report line. if that doesn't work............

yes definitly, you don't pick anyone up that way. Come on, its a baby for goodness sakes. I have a friend that constantly picked their child up that way and she couldn't figure out why the childs arm kept coming out of their socket. HELLO... Commen sense here, its a growing child, and why do you want to swing your child around like that. Sounds a little weird to me. If you do then grab them midsection and do it. Have you ever had your arm pulled out of socket? Im sure it doesn't feel to good, and Im sure your child doesn't want to experience it. Maybe you should attend parenting classes, they might be able to help you with a professional answer to your question.

I remember being taken into a large office with people I didn't know. They had stern faces and I was scared. They asked me over and over and over again did my mommie and daddy hurt me or make me cry.
Hum...yeah, I had a tendancy to have loose joints. When ever I was picked up by my hands... the way many people do pick up their kids... it dislocated my shoulders.
So, yes, it is a risk.

Yes you can pull the tendons holding your babies bones together. You can't dislocate them as such because they are too stretchy & not joined properly but they can get what Dr's call "pulled elbow" & it's very painful for them. I've seen a few bubs with this in my line of work.

I'm not sure about the shoulders but I know you can harm the elbows by doing this. It's mostly referred to as nurse maids elbow. It's extremly painful for a child.

YES , TENDONS,MUSCLES, AND SOCKETS ARE NOT THAT STRONG AND ARE STILL DEVELOPING, MIGHT NOT HURT THE BABY 99.9 % OF THE TIME BUT 1 TIME IS TO MANY AND NOT WORTH THE RISK
