My six month old just started to crawl about 2 weeks ago but I'm concerned because everyone says that they start sitting alone first and he won't unless I "trick" him by supporting him and putting a toy in front of him and back away... or if he's on my lap... Is this normal? Is he just being stubborn?

Ok my six month old is starting to drive me batty. He wakes up and wont sleep anywhere but in my bed with me. I have heard conflicting theories on this... Sears says it's fine, actually good for babies others say it's bad and is harmful for baby... I'm looking for peoples experience with this. Did they allow their baby to sleep with them? Did they regret it? He's so independent in other ways... And I LIKE sleeping with him, but i don't wont to if I'm harming him... Respectful input PLEASE!

are you terribly sore after giving birth vaginally? I mean like how severe? Does it hurt to pee, walk, etc.? And around how long does it take to heal? Does it interfere with being able to care for your baby once it's home?

Please answer only if you have. I just bought it because my two month old baby's tummy is very sensitive. He has gassy times and spits up often. I bought Colic Calm on a reccomendation from my cousin. The first time I gave it to him was after a bottle. He spit it up. When should I give it to him? Before, after, in between?

My son is 6 months old, and the youngest of 3 children. His older brothers had normal schedules... this one refuses to sleep at night, no matter how hard I try. I'm up with him until anywhere from 3 to 5 am every night. He sleeps a full 8 hours, allowing me to get a full 8 hours, but the fact that he has his days and nights confused is slightly frustrating. I don't mind if he is awake until midnight, because I usually am, but 3 or 4 am is ridiculous. I've tried putting him to bed early, keeping him up and not allowing naps during the day, waking him up earlier, etc etc... but no matter what I do, he refuses to sleep at night. Anyone else have a similar problem?? Is there anything I should be doing that I'm not?

Are there any moms out there who were GBS+ and declined antibiotics during labor because you were low risk for passing it on to your baby? How was the baby's health after birth?

I already have a 2 year old daughter who is the world to me,but recently my husband has brought up the idea of another child.Personally I have said that I would rather just have one child, but a lot of people tell me to have more. Some say it's time for my daughter to have a "playmate".Would it be too soon to have another baby? Is my daughter still too young for a sibling? When would be a good/right time to have another baby?....Should I have another baby???

My baby is 5 weeks old and hasn't pooped since Tuesday afternoon and now it's Saturday night! Here's the thing... she's strictly breastfed, EXCEPT for the dr put her on 1 oz of half and half prune juice and water twice a day and STILL hasn't gone in 5 1/2 days. Should I be worried?

I meet other parents every day (at the playground, library, shopping...) and continually I am amazed at the general ignorance that is out there. No one stops to think, then perhaps do a little research or investigation. They just go day-to-day never thinking for themselves. They walk around with their brain turned off. Smoking, drinking, alcohol, coffee, candy, soda pop, fast food, TV dinners... everything they eat comes from a package. Then they get pregnant and their kid has all these health problems. They haven't a clue. Allergies, asthma, diarrhea, puking, coughing, fevers, brain slowness, just sickly in general. They have a million excuses not to breastfeed, and shove formula, snacks, candy, sausages, etc. into their kid that can't even talk yet. They love to talk about all of the problems their kid has yet never do any research. They just join in on the 'sick' cult with the other parents and share their stories and crazy ideas of how they deal with it. Are people really STUPID?

Our little one has a slight temperature and is pulling on her ears. My wife thinks it could be an ear infection. What can we do? We're already going to the doctors this week. But what can we do at home to help her?

Here are the hints they have given:

* it is an actual name (not like Zylandria or something)
* it is not a common name (so not Jennifer or Christopher)
* it has to do with music somehow.

My sister-n-law just got home from a C-section. She was burping the baby and watching tv. Next thing she felt the baby fall. She had fallen asleep I am sure to exhaustion and pain medication. The baby is fine. Checked by emergency room etc. She however is a mess and keeps chastizing herself as a bad mother. This is her first child. Her own mom died 21 months ago. She is 25. She feels alone. I am trying to reassure her she is not the only one accidents happen too. Thank god the baby is fine. The er docs did find that she had jaundice with high levels and took immediate action to correct that. Maybe fate brought them to find the jaundice because it is apparently pretty bad, though why the hospital released with no notification of possible jaundice is another question. Please send me your stories so I can show she is not the only one that accidents happen too.

My son was born on holloween so he is 4 weeks old .... He has been feeding fine with no problems at all with feeding or spit-up for that matter... but all of a sudden 4 days ago he just started spiiting up ALOT! I am talking about like the exorcist ! Almost eveytime that I feed him he will spit up all that he ate almost... But he isnt crying or whinning at all really. The only time that he does cry is when he wants a bottle.

My wife stopped breastfeeding at 2 weeks because she dryed up. Our last child we gave her Parents Choice (from Walmart) and she had no problems. So I went and bought him (my 4 week old) the same thing and we had no problem with the first can and then his Dr. says that he should be on Enfimil and gave us two cases of it and he was fine for a little bit. but now he spits it all back up almost 8 out of 10 times ..... Should I switch back to the Walmart Brand ....?

She's 17 lbs 11 oz (has only gained 1 lb 7 oz in 5 mths.) At her 1-year appointment Friday Ped. said there's no nutritional benefit to breastfeeding after 1 year (not sure I believe him...) & to get her on milk so she'll gain weight.

He said cut her off cold turkey. I'm reluctant to do that b/c if she DOESN'T start drinking milk then there won't be an option to at least breastfeed her. Plus I've been gradually weaning her from 5 feedings a day in September... we're down to 2 a day now. I planned to have her entirely weaned by 1st week of January.

She wouldn't drink formula either (tried 8 weeks ago.) I was hoping we'd be okay when we got the green light for milk, but no luck. She does LOVE yogurt, cheese & ice cream.

How can I get her to drink milk? I've tried it warm, cold, strawberry flavoured, sippy cup, regular cup, offering her MY cup... nothing's worked.

I know she knows she can still get BM from me. Is the Ped right? Do I cut her off and risk NO milk at all?

Thx!

My daughter is 10 weeks old and still wants to wake up every three to four hours to eat. I am wondering when will she sleep through the night?

What are some things I can do to get her to sleep longer?

We do a bathe every other day before bed to help calm her.
She is on a routine sort of, she is in bed by 830 every night. But up at 12 and then 4ish and so on.

What else can I do?

takes 30+ minutes to wake him enough to eat off one side, sometimes for only 10 min. then hes out agian and I have to try to wake him up again which is even harder because he is somewhat full. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to feed then in another hour or so Im at it again. Is this normal for him not to wake upto eat? At night I let him sleep 4-5 hours and he STILL wont wake up. Its making breastfeeding SO hard. My questionis will he start to wake up on his own soon? or is this how its going to be with all his feedings? Also if he only eats 10-13 min on 1 breast every 3 hours is that enough? Should I pump the second breast that doesnt get used that feeding? Please help this is so frusturating!

I have a six-month-old daughter and I was just wondering how often you other parents of infants, bathe them?? We live in freezing cold NH and I know that bathing her too often would cause her to have dry skin. But I had been bathing her once a week till I realized that was not often enough, when I put her in the water and watched the grime float off her. LOL Ew! I know! So what's a happy medium? Twice/three times a week? How often do you bathe your baby?
