Our little one has a slight temperature and is pulling on her ears. My wife thinks it could be an ear infection. What can we do? We're already going to the doctors this week. But what can we do at home to help her?

Infant's Tylenol and Motrin. Use proper dose for her age, if unsure call your pediatrician they can tell you over the phone how much to give her. When you go somewhere, use a hat with the little flaps to cover her ears. The cold tends to make the throbbing pain worse. When she sleeps, put her in a reclining position. When you hold her, hold her tight against you and cover the other ear, this will help counter pressure her throbbing ears. I use all these techniques on my babies and it helps them until either the teeth pop through or the antibiotics take effect, depending on what is causing the ear pain. Also go ask your local pharmacist for ear drops to help numb the ears. Hope this helps some. Oh! DO NOT stick anything into the ears! Sometimes people put a little bit of cotton in the ears to help keep the cold air out, do not do this unless your pediatrician tells you otherwise. Generally little ones may push the cotton further into their ears, best to not stick anything in them without asking your pediatrician first. Best wishes, hope your little one feels better soon.

I am sorry but you will have to have the doc. give her med. There is nothing you can really do at home. My daughter started ear infections at 3 months and finally at 9 months had to have tubes put in. My daughter was having them all the time like it went from 1 x a month to having them 2-3 then having them back to back! Make sure she gets checked out because they are very painful.

You can give Tylenol or Motrin if they are old enough for Motrin( 6 months)

May want to get her to the doctor, could be teething yet it could be an infection. Do either you or your wife smoke cigarettes in the house or around the baby? This also can cause ear infections. My daughter was having them all the time until I made my husband start smoking outside and from that time on she never had another one.

Ear infections progress rapidly in little ones. Go to the doctor ASAP. In the meantime, you can get baby ear drops at the pharmacy and it will help with the pain -- but it does not cure the problem. You need to see the doctor now.

Give her Motrin every 6 to 8 hours and Tylenol every 4-6. If she's over 6 months old, look for an infant's decongestant, also. It will help clear up the fluid that's causing the pain. It's safe to wait to take her to the doctor as long as her fever is "slight" and she's not screaming in pain.

Untill you can get the baby to the Dr, give her some BABY MOTRIN.....
This will help her with the pain....FOLLOW the directions on the bottle.
Her ears hurt probably most when she lays down, because thats the fluid in the ears thats not draining. and it's building up pressure.
If she gets worse before the Dr. Apt, call the Dr, and tell them you need to get her asap, because she's hurting.
Any good Dr, will tell you to come on in. If they tell you to wait till your apt, then get another baby Dr.
