I have a six-month-old daughter and I was just wondering how often you other parents of infants, bathe them?? We live in freezing cold NH and I know that bathing her too often would cause her to have dry skin. But I had been bathing her once a week till I realized that was not often enough, when I put her in the water and watched the grime float off her. LOL Ew! I know! So what's a happy medium? Twice/three times a week? How often do you bathe your baby?

I live in a very dry city, pavorottis opera voice actually cracked here its so dry, and its been -40 with windchill a couple times this year already. I bathe my baby every two days. Her skin is not dry and if you are worried about dryness putting some baby oil in the water is bound to help it soften up.But be careful because it makes the babies pretty slippery in there.

Every other day seems to be the most appropriate-- especially because baby wipes don't do a perfect job :) What I did for my daughter was turn on the shower to the hottest setting for 5-10 min before running a bath to steam up the bathroom. This made it much nicer for her. As an added bonus, this also helped clear her sinuses when she was a bit stuffy. Immediately after getting out of the bath, I put lotion on her to help aviod dry skin. The combination of steam and her still-wet skin helped the lotion work. Additionally, if it was very cold, I would turn on a space heater on in her room for when I got her dressed.

I live in Ontario Canada, and as you know it gets QUITE chilly here in the winter. To be totally honest, i bathe my baby EVERY day and sometimes twice a day, once in the morning and once in the night.. seems to helping keep up a sleeping pattern. Just make it that you're not going out within an hour of bathing him/her. And when you do go out, make sure she/he is TOTALLY covered from head to toe ... AND MOISTURIZE!!! This will prevent chafing and dry skin. A clean baby is a healthy baby. Unless the baby has exzema or another skin condition, I personally would bathe daily ... Good luck ..

I'm in freezing cold NH as well. My daughter is 14 weeks. I bathe her usually everyother day. At 6 months... so the same. If you don't want to, try a sponge bath every few days

I live in the midwest where it is also rather chilly in the winter. The high today was 18!!
Bathing is part of our bedtime routine. We just put him in the tub with a bit of water and some days it's a full bath, but most times it's just face, hands and privates. He gets creamed up with lotion after. I think it really depends on your baby's skin...thankfully my little guy has nice skin, no problems with dryness or anything else.
I added a link with the answer to your question and more on bathing!!
Stay warm!!

We have a 5 month old. He gets a bath 5 days or so. More often if he's gotten messy while eating. I wash his hands, face and neck each day before bed. Even bathing ever 5 days, his skin gets dry, especially the cheeks. I use lanolin on his cheeks, it works great! Lanolin is sold for nursing mothers to apply to their nipples if they're drying out and cracking due to feeding. It's sound in the baby section. I get it at Target. Grapeseed oil is good for the rest of the body.

A 6 month old shouldn't get too dirty, 3-4 times a week should do. Sponge bathe every night if for anything, to help baby relax before bed.

My daughter is 10 weeks old and we live in cold michigan. I usually bathe her every other day.

I do this because she sweats alot, or not really sweats but gets clammy.

Not only that buy if you don't keep like under thier neck and underarms clean and dry they get funky.

So every other day is good for me. And she usually takes a bath with me and that makes it alot easier and it keeps her from freezing inthat little tub that hardly covers her belly.

I completely bathe my 6-week old 2-3 times per week, but I sponge bathe his face, hands, neck, and nether regions daily. I live in Michigan, and if I do any more than that he gets so dry.

I bathe my 7 month old every other night during the winter( unless an accident happens). Its a happy medium,I did that with my son too when he was that age and it seemed to work perfectly.
