are you terribly sore after giving birth vaginally? I mean like how severe? Does it hurt to pee, walk, etc.? And around how long does it take to heal? Does it interfere with being able to care for your baby once it's home?

I may be in the minority, but I had an easy time of it. I had 2nd degree episiotomy and 45 minutes of pushing and gave birth about 2 AM to an 8 lb. 2 oz. boy. The nurses in recovery were trying to get me to take pain killers. I really did not feel as though I needed them, but finally took a dose a several hours later "just in case" as the nurse told me. I took maybe two more doses while in the hospital more for the contractions I was having while breastfeeding than for vaginal pain.

My sisters warned me about the pain of peeing, but I only had some mild stinging the first couple of times.

I couldn't sit on hard surfaces for long periods of time for maybe a month after, but other than that I had very little pain. I did not have any trouble taking care of my baby due to it.

Good luck and I hope you don't have much pain.

With my first baby, It hurt to sit on hard surfaces. I used a pillow to sit on. By the time I got home, which was 4 days later, I had no pain at all. I even had a few stitches. It stung a little at first to pee but that was because of the stitches. Other than being a little tired, no it doesn't interfere with taking care of the baby.

Honestly, I have a horrible vaginal birth with my 1st... 8 1/2 lb boy, 22" and a forceps delivery 2 weeks late. But with my second, she was born at full term and i was walking an hour later as happy as can be. It all depends and you and your baby, and how the baby is positioned. Just remember, whether or not you use pain med, you will eventually walk again and be pain free. No reason to stress over it!

Depending on the size of the baby.I healed pretty quickly though it does hurt to do certain things but most likely it won't interfere with taking care of baby.

I was sore for about 2 weeks. And no, it doesn't interfere with taking care of the baby.

I didn't feel 'normal' again until about 6 weeks (thats when my lochia stopped)

Nah I was fine, but I didn't have any stitches.

Nope it didn't effect anything. However your should avoid sitting for prolonged periods for the first week at least.
