Relax with baby. Nurse as often as possible, about every 2 hours around the clock is normal. If in the hospital, the nurses will be checking baby's heartrate and temp and mom's temp and blood pressure off and on. Keep an ice pack on your bottom for the first couple of days.

Nothing really. Just rest and take care of your baby. They will look at the baby and run a few tests, and as far as the mother goes, they dont really do much. Just make sure she is not bleeding more than she should and make sure the uterus is shrinking back down to what it should be....Other than that they leave you alone.

For the mother, most doctors want you to relax or walk around (if u can). For the baby, that take it to the nursery and give it a bath, change it, feed it, etc. Most doctors want u to spend some time with the new baby also. When I had my son, the hospital had a "rooming" option where I could keep my son with me except for shift change.

For the baby, hold her on your bare chest, nurse her, burp her, and change her diaper whenever there is anything in it. Keep her warm (one extra layer of clothes more than what you are wearing), and swattle her when she is asleep to keep her secure.
For mom, sleep whenever the baby sleeps. move slowly to the bathroom. Drink plenty of liquids. Try to stay comfy in your newly damaged body, and be careful until you heal for atleast a week. Clean and change yourself every hour or as needed. Love your baby, and enjoy her.
God bless you and your family, and Merry Christmas!!
