My baby is 3.5 months and 17 pounds! I am breastfeeding.
It runs in my family,... we all get really chubby and end up really skinny.
I started at 120 pounds and she was born 9lbs 7oz!

anyone else have such a chubby baby?
How much does your 3 month old weigh?

(doctor said she is really healthy, nothing to worry about and I think her chuuby legs are so adorable!)

My baby isn't much of a crier (thankfully), but when I put her on her tummy for tummy time, she screams. Is this normal? She loves to SLEEP on her tummy, but hates to play on her tummy. Any suggestions?

I understand that breast-feeding is the most healthy and natural way to nourish you baby, but people seem to look down on mothers who bottle-feed. The other day I answered a question someone asked on here about whether I bottle-fed or breast-fed. I wrote that I bottle fed because for some reason, my milk never came in. I also wrote that I had discussed this with my pediatrician and she told me this was fairly normal...
Well I got about 6 bad reviews, and I even had one woman email me a nasty letter about how I was abusing my child. What was I supposed to do, starve him?!
I absolutely would have breast fed if it where physically possible.
What's your opinion?

When my 12 week old baby poops, you can hear her a mile away and almost every time it comes out the back or the side. I use the Pampers brand (swaddlers), but my baby ruined alot of her clothes doing this. I know I'm putting on her diaper correctly and she is a Size 1, there's just alot of poop coming out. Do your babies poop alot and is there a way of getting the poop out? I currently use Oxy for baby.

We got out 1 year old daughter's ears pierced about 2 months ago. We cleaned them dilligently multiple times every day. We decided to take out the original studs for the first time to switch to another pair. When we took them out, the holes bled a little. We cleaned her ears and tried to put in the new pair, but her ears started bleeding more. This all happened last night and we ended up leaving the earings out overnight. My question is, should we try and put the earings back in tonight, or should we let the ears heal more. Our concern about leaving them out is that we don't want the holes to close up and have her go through this all over again. Please provide constructive answers and not criticism about infant ear piercing. Thank you.

When I was little, I remember the daycares that I went to...and some of the stuff that went on there. Pacifiers were considered community...everyone used them, whether they belonged to them or not...and if one child had a medication, it was given to everyone (to prevent the others getting sick?). There was no guarantee that my little sister or I would go home wearing our own clothes..if they got dirty, the daycare chick would put us in someone else's spare clothes. Is that common practice, or was it just something that happened when I was little? I plan on staying at home with my child, but if I need to go back to work, I want to know what will happen.

I gave birth to my 2nd 10 days ago, and nursing has been going extremely well from the start. Except the past couple of days, when she latches on, the first couple of seconds are excruciating, toe-curling pain.

From what I can tell, her latch-on is correct -- wide mouth, lips flanged outward, sucking on areola as well as nipple -- looks just like the pictures in the baby books.

But oh the pain! Is this something that's just supposed to happen during week two, and will eventually resolve itself? Or am I doing something else wrong?

Wish I could see a lactation consultant, but there aren't any at my hospital. Thanks in advance.

After the birth of my second daughter, I fell more deeply in love with my husband, he has not change at all he does the same thing he always do but I just love him 50 times more than I knew was possible. When he leaves the house just to go to the store I miss him way more than I did before the birth of our baby girl. Are these signs of postpartum and should I let my dr. know. My daughter was born on Thanksgiving.

hi pepz,

Haven't you wondered or even observed that when an infant is born, there is an umbelical cord attached to his/her stomach? I guess, your ideas may differ from mine, so i need your ideas too.

I am breast feeding my daughter and she is nearly 4 months old........the longest she will go through the night is 5 hours, i have tried many different methods, routine is bath, feed, wind n cuddle, then i put her down wrapped in a kind of swaddle and she drops to sleep. She has a rolled blanket behind her and is on a comfy mattress. But she wakes up, i'm worried she may have seperation anxiety but think its too early to tell. I would like to know if all you breast feeding mums found a problem with sleeping through and how long did it last for?? Thank you

They moved in w/ me when baby was 3 wks old. He's 20, she's 18. They're both the baby, so no exp. w/ younger siblings, or other kids of their own. Jr is 3 mos old. (emerg. c-section)
1st problem was severe colic-I finally bought the expensive formula myself, gave it to him so they could see his incessant crying & g.i. distress WAS colic! (now on WIC) My son insists he "fights sleep." (since less than 2 mos old) I bought 1 of those massaging seats that plays music, & if he's not there, he's on a blanket in the floor. We just had another argument because baby SCREAMED nonstop for 1/2 hr! Neither of them budged! I finally had to intervene & got the usual nasty, hateful attitude from my son who insists his crying that long is ok, that he "knows" how to take care of his son. He claims "people in the street" and "the dr." told him "its ok to let a baby cry!" I told him that's not what the dr meant as normal. I try to teach infant care calmly, nonjudgmental-very resented. Help!??

I've noticed some of the common signs of a teething baby. He is drooling excessively, chewing on his fist, and very crabby. I rubbed his gums and discovered a bump where his molars should be, but haven't gotten a good look to see if anything has erupted. I know it is possible for babies to get teeth early, but shouldn't it be his bottom front teeth and not his molars? Is something wrong? What should I do?
