Haven't you wondered or even observed that when an infant is born, there is an umbelical cord attached to his/her stomach? I guess, your ideas may differ from mine, so i need your ideas too.

In placental mammals, the umbilical cord is a tube that connects a developing embryo or fetus to its placenta. It contains one or two major vessels, buried within Wharton's jelly, for the exchange of nutrient- and oxygen-rich blood between the embryo and placenta.

The baby and mother are connected via this umbilical cord. The baby needs this cord to receive everything it needs to survive. It supplies the baby with oxygenated blood as well as food. This is the baby's life force.

i think thats the thing that conects the baby to the mother. when the mom eats, most of the nutrients go to the baby through the umbelical cord.

I think they need it b/c they need to get food from the mother, while they''re inside her... And when they're born, the doctors cut it off, b/c the baby can eat on his/her own now

they have umbilical cords so that their mother's nutrition,oxygen and blood flow goes to them
