Newborn & Baby - November 2006

I know we shouldn't be putting so much emphasis on schedules for babies of that age but my little munchkin has erractic feeding and sleeping times so I would like some guidelines! Thank you!

My husband read in a magazine that you can begin feeding your baby rice cereal (small amounts) when they can hold their heads up on their own and now hes bugging me to death to give her some. Don't you think a 5 week old is too young?

Ok...I've been exclusively pumping for the last 3 months. Last week, I decided to stop pumping. I let myself get engorged and everything and didn't pump for two days. Then, I started regretting my decision, so I tried to pump twice and nothing came out. Two days after that (today) I felt a little engorged, so I pumped..and amazingly, I got 6 oz out! BUT..the milk was watery looking. So my question is...If I pump every 2 hours or so now, is it possible that my milk will fully come back in? Or was that a fluke?

I live in Arizona and I have a 3 month old. Arizona like most know is hot most of the year. We are going to Oregon for Xmas this year and it is going to be about 20 degrees.....I want to know if there is anything besides the shots that my baby already has had, that I can do to prevent her from catching a cold? I am going to dress her warm and keep her inside but I wanted to get some advice from people that live in the cold weather. Any suggestions will be great! Thank You!!!!!

I have a 10 month old daughter and when I rinse the shampoo out her hair, some water always gets in her eyes and she gets scared. She sits in the tub now, and I would like to know tips on how to rinse her hair but make it a good experience. Thanks.

My baby is a month old now and I was wondering if you think going to the movie theatre is out of the question at this age? I know before I had a baby I was so upset when I heard stories of people taking their newborns to a concert at less than a week old. I mean your babys ears and his surroundings are so sensative right? Thank you for you input.

I used powdered formula until 2 weeks ago then switched to premixed,(same brand). Since then her stool is loose and grainy looking,and almost black in color. Can that be the cause?

I have a baby cradle that was given to me and it's a rocking cradle that is low to the ground. It doesn't have bars but flat sides. I'm trying to figure out what kind of bedding to use and I can't use a bumper pad right? There's no place to attach it. But, wouldn't I want a bumper pad so baby doesn't push his head up against the walls of the cradle? Is there a special kind of bedding set for a cradle like this one? Where would I find it? Is it safe to use a cradle with flat wooden sides and no bars? I'm confused. It's a beautiful piece of woodwork, I just am wondering if I really should use it - if they don't sell bedding for it - maybe this style of cradle has been deemed unsafe?

My daughter has a runny nose and this morning she woke up with whitish/yellow discharge from her eye. I don't think its pink eye but some kind of conjunctivitis. Her eye isn't red just a lot of discharge and a little swollen. Please help has anyone ever experinced this with their child?

He bites all the time!!! I get called out of church almost every service because he is biting the other kids. I tell him no in a firm voice but he just dosent stop. He has lots of teether and other toys to bite on but he likes people better. I know he dosent understand.
