when my son was 1 month old he would not drink milk. my doc said to give him banana baby food, and it did not hurt him. he was also on cereal at 1 month old. doctors don't know everything, if they did there would not be so many sick people.

I fed my little ones rice cereal at 2 months previous - all 3 of them. they're completely effective. wholesome 13, eleven and six 12 months olds. in the journey that your infant is doing properly then do not worry about what others say. I truly have a company perception that mom is conscious best, no matter if you're first time mom, its a organic instinct that includes maximum! In all actuality your infant does no longer favor to have rice cereal yet, despite the indisputable fact that it wont harm your infant both. My sisters infant had reflux and the in straight forward words way she might want to save her formulation down change into to thicken it up with rice cereal so she had it from 2 weeks previous. - docs orders. She is effective now and a effective dancer - age 17.

If she is content with the breast milk I wouldn't offer rice cereal yet. My eldest daughter was breastfed and was wanting a feed every 2 hours my doctor recommended that I give her a little cereal and she settle during the day.

I started giving both my boys a little cereal in their formula appx at one month old, didnt hurt them a bit . Matter of fact it gave them something more satisfying . they stopped being fussy and acting as if they were still hungry. Listen to your baby, if he or she is acting hungry after feeding them just formula , maybe giving them a little cereal is what they need. Doctors are great , but they are just doctors, being hungry isnt an illness. so listen to your insticts.

Some people out there hate this topic and are dead against it, but i started giving my twins things like yoghurt, rice, custard etc when they were 7 weeks.
Not a whole jar or anything but a few teaspoons a day, and let them try certain things I ate aswell. They were breastfed and bottlefed.
I does state on the label NOT RECOMMENDED or NOT FOR children under a certain age - that's covering there backsides so you can't sue if your bub reacts to the food.. and for the fact their little bellies haven't adjusted to what we consume.
it's up to you what you choose to do, as long as you're aware that babies can be allergic to certain things.
We parent differently so do what you both think is best.
Goodluck and congrats!

there are formulas that already have rice mixed in with them
i once read that adding rice to formula can actually deplete the nutritional values of the formula.
if you are just wanting to add rice so the baby sleeps longer during the night, it DOESNT help. plus, with your daughter only being 5 weeks, she'll just wake up anyway.
if youre curious, call and talk to your peds doctor

I think 1 month is a little young. I didnt think they were supposed to start rice ceral till - months... read the box and see what the recommendations are....or better yet... call your doctors office. No charge for a phone call and they will give you the best answer for you and your child.

i think you should wait until she can hold her head up like the magazine states, my boy started on cereal at the age of 3 and a half months. Besides i dont think her little tummy would take it,

Yes. Four to Six months old is when you're supposed to introduce cereal. Call your pediatrician. Baby can choke.

Way to young!!!! Most pediatrcians will tell you not to start any solids until baby can hold head alone when sitting for long lengths of time which is about 5 to 7 months old, There is no reason to start ceral this young & it can actually choke your baby even when near liquid, don't push her to grow up...it will happen soon enough & talk to your pediatrcian about when they believe solids should be started, but I can guarente they will say at least 5 months!
