I live in Arizona and I have a 3 month old. Arizona like most know is hot most of the year. We are going to Oregon for Xmas this year and it is going to be about 20 degrees.....I want to know if there is anything besides the shots that my baby already has had, that I can do to prevent her from catching a cold? I am going to dress her warm and keep her inside but I wanted to get some advice from people that live in the cold weather. Any suggestions will be great! Thank You!!!!!

A baby can't catch a cold just by being cold. Colds are more prevelant in colder climates because a) people are indoors more so you have more contact with more people/germs and b) being cold can bring down your immune system (temporarily of course). The best thing you can do is keep her appropriatly dressed for the temperature inside and outside (only one layer more than you are wearing). Although you don't want to spend extended periods of time outside with her, it would be good to give her a chance to get some fresh air as well (just make sure you dress her appropriately). Make sure you wash your hands frequently and ask others to do the same. If there is someone around that is not feeling well, consider asking them not to hold your baby. Don't worry about offending them. They should understand and being sick shouldn't request to hold the baby anyway.
Good luck and have a great holiday season!

Last christmas my baby was a month old and Idecided to skip out on the big family functions that had lots of young children there (specifically the my neices and nephews in daycare or kindergarten.) I'm glad I did bc 2 of the kids were sick w/ a bad virus for 6 weeks. What irritated me last winter the most was that everyone tried to touch the baby, esp on the face and lots of people would try and kiss her on the lips. If they want to say hello, or hold her that was fine but sometimes they would go way overboard. When it comes to them touching her face or pacifier and kissing her, you just have to put your foot down and say "My pediatrician asked me to limit her close contact with people during cold and flu season." My huband was much better than me because he would come out and say please don't do that ~ he didn't care who he offended. I wash my hands constantly and carry around hand sanitizer. I think if you politely ask friends and relatives if any of them are sick before visits and remind them that you have an infant hopefully they will keep their distance and respect you.
Good luck!

At 4 months previous you do not commonly see territorial spraying- something else you suggested that made me imagine that the kittens have an outbreak or "chilly" as you position it- for cats this isn't a chilly - it really is often something that desires on the spot interest- corona virus- herpes virus contains concepts and that your older cat is exhibiting indicators signifies that the virus got here in with the little ones- something it really is exciting to me is this manner of viruses are spread threw the muddle field- anytime that a cat makes use of it- it sheds the virus and so spreads it to different cats- the undeniable actuality that you suggested that they have got colds properly- you want to flow to the vet- cats do not basically get colds- and fantastically in the adventure that they are kittens- flow to the vet and interior the advise time- attempt to keep the field(s) really sparkling- your little you are able to properly be sensing that something is faulty in there-

Vitamine C will help with the cold. But it's not as bad as people think about getting a cold. Children will get sick so that they can built up their immune system. Bring some vicks and keep her warm =)

Just watch who is touching your baby. If you have the baby around a ton of sick kids, then you can bet your baby will pick it up. But if you have everyone wash their hands before handling the baby and keep the baby away from sniffling kids then you should be ok.

And of course keep the baby bundled up. Hope this helps.

The best thing you can do is wash your hands frequently and make anyone coming in contact with the baby do so also. I would also try and avoid abnormally large crowds with the baby till winter season is over. Good luck to you!

A cold is caught through the air when you are around someone who has one. Just try to make sure that she doesn't get near anyone who has one. The cold does not get her sick. You should get a one-piece thick snow suit. They are great and cover your child from head to toe.

Keep her snuggled and warm and wash her chewing toys regularly. Make people who come in contact wash their hands and you do the same. Do not allow people to "crowd" around her and strangers to touch her. When going to stores bring sanitizer wipes to wipe the shopping cart.

People do not get sick from the cold weather. They get sick from viruses. No shot she got has anything to do with colds and you can't prevent viruses from being around.
