Well, my son just turned 9 months also, so I know what you completely mean about loosing interest. I went Christmas shopping and saw a baby tool set. It comes with a little hammer that they can hit little shapes with, and it sings, abc, and I think colors. It was in the toy section at I believe target. It's called Laugh and Learn, Learning Toolbench, by Fisher Price. He fell in love with it!

Good luck!!! Happy Holidays!!!

Babies generally like things that are not toys. I have 6 kids, so that knowledge comes from experience. I'll tell you what keeps interest in a child, but it is a bit messy. Get an apple, nectarine, peach, etc. Wrap it in mesh, you can probably buy something from the store specifically for this purpose. The baby will chew and chew and not choke.

Ok...stay with me here on this one...I have actually gifted this to a 15 month old, Dominoes. They are too big to swallow. They perfectly hand-sized. They have bright colors on them (if you get the colored ones). They will have fun bang them together or "messing up the pile". I gave them to my little nephew, his favorite thing to do with them was to put them all on the floor between his legs and start kicking his feet in and out.

Duplo Blocks! My 2 love them. And big Board-Books.
Kids change their mind all the time, even tupperware is great with a large plastic spoon!
