I have a 10 month old daughter and when I rinse the shampoo out her hair, some water always gets in her eyes and she gets scared. She sits in the tub now, and I would like to know tips on how to rinse her hair but make it a good experience. Thanks.

My little boy does the same thing. I take a bath with him because he so active at 8 months. well what i do is lather his hair and take a wet wash cloth and wip the back of the head first, slowly I move onto the side and the other side. The hardest part is the top of his head b/c the water drains onto his face. So I do the same thing, get the wash cloth and move from the forehead to the top of his head so the the water will drain in the other direction untill the shampoo is all gone. Or I just take a cup and pour it over his head fron to back like when you go to the beauty shop and get your hair washed. The key is not to get water on the face and in the eyes.

First you could try a children's shampoo (the tearless kind). If that doesn't work then just tilt her head back slightly put one hand at her hairline, use the other hand to pour the water. As you pour the water use your free hand to keep the water from getting in her eyes. I have a daughter too....I could do this, but her dad could never quite get the hang of it.

If this doesn't work then try getting her to lay down, but that is a bit more scary for the child. My daughter did not start laying down until she was 5.

I hope this helps. :)

I like the idea of hanging things from the ceiling above the tub, I may try that just for fun. We bought some plastic visors at the dollar store or a craft store and our girls wear them in the tub. This way the water cascades over the visor and doesn't get in their eyes.

I'm still working on this one and my daughter is two. One thing that i have found that Usually helps is...I've hung big fake butterflies up at the ceiling. When I want to rince her hair, I just say look up at the butterflies and it gives me a quick second to rinse her hair out (usually) without getting water in her eyes. Good luck.

there are shampoo caps that go on the head like a hat with the top missing, this is great to use as the water and shampoo goes over the edge and not onto the face.ask at any good baby shop or chemist.

If she'll let you, hold a rag over her forehead to absorb the water that runs towards her eyes. My 4y/o daughter asks for a rag to cover her face to this day. Or you could try leaning her back a tad or moving her attention up a little so she looks up, tipping her head back. Also a showerhead that is removable works nicely, too. Good luck!!

Can you get her to lean back either on a bath seat or get one of those inflatable tubs that have a section to rest her neck?

OR I just use a very little amount of shampoo and then wipe down my son's head with a clean wet (not dripping) washcloth a few times.

Try holding a washcloth on her forhead while rinsing. Are you using a sprayer? If so, you can just use your hand on her forehead, too, like a visor.
