My daughter has always been shy of certain situations. She's fine with people she knows but she wont speak on the phone to my relatives in Aus (who she knows but not well) she wont go into a shop by herself to buy herself some chocolate even if I am outside. She is afraid of social situations on holiday she wont join in with other groups of kids she likes to play on her own. Do you think its healthy? I know its her personality but I am scared that she will be a recluse all her life. She only has one friend at school who is also a bit of a loner. I really want to build up her confidence but dont know how. Advice appreciated!

My fiance's daughter just turned 9 a week ago. Yesterday she told me she found blood in her underwear, so I know she has her period. She is also getting boobs! Today she wore a shirt and they are totally noticeable. I pulled her aside and asked if I could take her bra shopping, she said no. Her mom died 4 years ago, so I asked if she wanted her Grandma to take her or one of her aunts or a friend's mom. And she said no again. She said she doesn't want a bra, but she needs one! She doesn't have the problem with pads, she was very good about those. Help! She needs a bra and I want her to get one so she won't be teased at school. I don't mind if I don't take her, but I want her to take someone she can trust there.

In years past, the "Air Hogs" line of flying, remote control toys made a hit so I can't do that again this year. Because Chicago is a cold-weather area with lots of snow, outdoor-type toys or gifts have limited use unless they are cold-weather hardy or designed for use in snow. His mother always gets him practical things like clothes so he looks to me, his Dad, to get him cooler stuff that maybe others haven't gotten or that his friends don't have. So I'm looking for something that will generate that "Oh Wow!" experience when he opens it on Christmas Day. He will be with his mother then so I won't get to see him open his presents. Ergo, I want to be represented there with something impressive but not outrageously priced since I'm not exactly a Rockerfeller yet and send most of my disposable income to their mother for child support. I love my children and want to bring them something heartfelt that shows thoughtfulness and understanding of their age. Your suggestions?

For a ten year old girl? She likes to play sports, and is somewhat shy and unpretentious. We don't want her going to camp with a bunch of spoiled girls who obsess over expensive clothes and boys, but would like a camp with top-notch facilities. Any suggestions?

My son is 10 years old and in the 4th grade. When he was born he was diagnosed with a buried penis which meant that his penis was not visible outside of his body. His case was an unusual one because most baby boys who are diagnosed with this condition have excess pubic fat and are left alone but my son's penis was not hidden underneath the fat but actually deeper beneath. We decided to go through with surgery . I wish I could take back this decision back. Not only did it not help correct it but it severely deformed it. His foreskin looks like it is detached from his gland but still attached to pelvis. As he got older, the gland of his penis began to show so it actually looked like he had a penis. Ever since the third grade his school made everyone take P.E. Almost everyday my son told me his horror stories at school about kids making viscious comments about his penis. I have tried to get a P.E. waiver and also talked to the superintendent but he claims the abuse goes on. What can I do?

Kids' storage racks recalled after death Fri Nov 16, 9:31 AM ET

Some 36,000 Chinese-made children's storage racks sold at Wal-Mart Stores Inc (WMT.N) in the United States were recalled after a baby was suffocated by an overturned rack, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Friday.

The wooden storage rack, manufactured for Irving, Texas-based Jetmax International Ltd, has three levels and nine removable canvas totes, the safety agency said. One model has red, blue, yellow and green canvas totes, and another model has pastel-colored canvas totes.

An 8-month-old boy suffocated after he pulled on a storage rack and it fell over on him, with the top rail landing on his neck, the government agency said.

Wal-Mart sold the storage rack organizers under the brand "Home Trend Kids" from August 2004 through July 2005 for about $40, the agency said. The product was also sold at Ollie's stores from July 2006 through June 2007.

Consumers should immediately stop children from using the recalled storage racks and contact Jetmax International to receive a free repair kit that adds stability to the base of the rack, the agency said.

The CPSC posted photographs of the recalled item on its Web site at http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml08/08085.html

My husband is a drug addict He is happy and treats everyone great when he has Hydrocodone but when he is out and cant find any he is harder on my son then any other time.He says my child is selfish and that he munipulates that he smiles when we argue that the only reason we argue is because of my eight year old child. He hits him he calls it spanking I dont have a problem with spanking but he pulls my childs head back by his hair and puts a sock in his mouth then spanks him on the back with a backscratcher.I saw a bruise on his eye yesterday and my husband claimed he had poison oak.I dont know what to do. Is this the proper way to spank a child? If this is abuse how do I get out I have no car noone to call and nowhere to go.

My daughter said yesterday her bus driver pulled into George Webbs before school, they waited there for 10 minutes, and then he came out and said they were out of Steak & Eggs.

Am I the only one who thinks this is wrong? Should I say something or is this typical "on the road" behavior and should I not be alarmed?

When I'm swimming at the waterslide park it's like out of nowhere I've gotta pee, like really badly. Like most waterslide parks the bathrooms are far away by the entrance and I feel I can't hold it that long, to walk all the way over.

What do you do, if you've been in my situation?

I teach second grade and I don't understand Jane*. I know young children need attention. All the other children typically do positive things to get mine (ie: they'll clean the sink, pick a piece of trash off the floor, draw me a picture, tell me about their new dog, etc).

Anyhow, this student always engages in disruptive/disrespectful behavior to get my attention (ie:sarcasm, rocking in her chair, or she'll become extremely clingy. Like oneday, she kept following me around the classroom.

Everytime I turned around I would step on her b/c she was following so close behind me. I gave her a hug, then said to sit down, but she kept getting back up following me and pulling on my arms.

BTW: I've attempted to arrange a conference w/her Mom five times. Mom NEVER shows up.

my 5 year old step-daughter is in kindergarten and has problems with the way she speaks. My husband and i correct her as much as possible but she doesnt take it serious. For example she says things like " Her gave me a book", (instead of "she gave me a book") and " Can were go" (instead of "can we go") and lastly "what are there doing" (instead of "what are they doing"). The childs mother is no help at all, she makes excuses for the child and is not willing to help. Recently my husband and i went to the childs school to ask for the teachers help in which they are more than willing. they also informed us that they too are having problems with the mother helping the child. We feel useless in helping this child because when she goes back with her mother and all of our effort went out the window. The mothers excuse is "she's just a baby" and she says we "pick" on the child by pushing her to learn. any opinions welcome.

It was so sad! After school a lot of kids followed the 2 girls getting into a fight. It was a REALLY skinny girl vs a really chubby girl. It wasn't a fair fight. The big girl through the first swing and got her on the ground and started to ground and pound.

The skinny girl is my friend. I felt soooooo bad, it was so sad! It gives me the chill now just thinking about it!

Sad part is, I recorded it ALL. Should I tell the office about it? I just feel a whole bunch of guilt for recording it..

I have the footage though. Is that going to get me in trouble?
