How do you know when your child is being abused?

My husband is a drug addict He is happy and treats everyone great when he has Hydrocodone but when he is out and cant find any he is harder on my son then any other time.He says my child is selfish and that he munipulates that he smiles when we argue that the only reason we argue is because of my eight year old child. He hits him he calls it spanking I dont have a problem with spanking but he pulls my childs head back by his hair and puts a sock in his mouth then spanks him on the back with a backscratcher.I saw a bruise on his eye yesterday and my husband claimed he had poison oak.I dont know what to do. Is this the proper way to spank a child?If this is abuse how do I get out I have no car noone to call and nowhere to go.

This is definitely abuse and you need to leave him. Think of your son. Do you want him to grow up being beaten? You need to contact the county courthouse to file for a protection order, file for divorce, and go live in a battered women's shelter. The county will have services to help you with everything you need. For God's sake call the police when he becomes violent.

Sorry, but your kid will be emotionally bruised by this for all long time. He will have kids and a wife and start beating them for no reason. This is far from spanking. Take care of this problem now!! If you care about your son, you need to tell the authorities today!

That is definitely abuse and you should get your son out. They have shelters for battered women and children. If someone else sees this and reports it you could have him taken away from you as well so if I were you I would definitely get out, go make a report with the police department, they will contact social services and they will also give you a number to call or know of a shelter where you can stay for now. Or, you could have him picked up for child abuse and he would have to get out and if he gets out of jail then you could get a restraining order on him so he couldn't hurt you or his son. Ur child is being abused and u sit down and say u dont have a car? u should go out and talk to people, counselors, and most importantly the police! u should make sure ur child is around u always so that u an protect him when the need arises... ur husband needs help so he should be ma to realise that he isnt training the child, h's teaching that 8r old how to become brutal! Please pray that God protects you and child and seek help fast before it becomes worse!!

What part of this sounds healthy to you? I know I sound harsh, but this is a very dangerous situation for you and your son.

Your job as a mother is to protect your son. Get out of there NOW. Go to a shelter...anything. Go to a police station, a hospital...anything. Tell them what's happening and that you need help. Help is out there.

Normally, you would call Child Protection Services or the police, but 4 months ago, you asked a question about growing weed in your closet, so the chances are your son would be removed from the home.
As his mother, call them any ways for his protection then clean yourself up to get him back.

Yes this is abuse. It is also very dangerous to have you child around anyone with a substance abuse problem. If things get worse, they can take your child away from you. I would look online for some local child abuse numbers and research some places that offer help. Well first strart making a plan start putting money aside where it cant be found by anyone but you.You need to find a place to talk to your son and just ask him plane out what happend to your eye did you dad hit you?
You need to get out save money if you can maybe apply for a credit card so you have emergency cash if you need it you will havta pay it back but it can be used for an emergency incase you gotta get out right away.You have no family at all not evan far away ? there are shelters till you can get on your feet if you love yourself and your child you need to find away out
