My nine year old daughter is starting to stay home with her 16 yr old brother by themselves after school for a few hours until I get home from work. I want to print out a safety list to remind her of some rules. here's what I've thought of so far:
Door locked at all times
Do NOT answer the door
Only answer phone if it's me, dad, or grandma (we've got caller ID)
No cooking on the stove

She's a very responsible little girl and I'm only 5 minutes from them if anything were to happen. Still if anyone has any ideas for my list, let me know! Thanks.

My daughter is 5 yrs old and every morning is a challenge to wake her up to go to school. I literally dress her asleep and try to tickle her to hopefully wake her up in a good mood, which is very rare. She refuses to wash her face or brush her teeth. Any suggestions??

My son often acts ungrateful. For example tonight he stayed with his grandmother, while his aunt and I shopped with his two younger sisters, to help her do some christmas decorating. He knew she didnt have a tree yet and there were some things that had to be done by an adult. When I picked him up he said he only got to do one thing. I said "well you got to do one thing!" He started moaning and complaining. I asked him would you have rather done one thing or nothing? He said nothing at all! This happens often. How can I help him be more grateful?

My son is six and a half years old. Last year in January he was diagnosed with ADHD. I was not a parent that took this lightly and just put him on medication. I went into his classroom and spent countless hours observing his behavior often without him knowing I was there. After seeing for myself for several weeks, I decided to try the medication. He began with Concerta which shortly after was changed to Adderall. He did not take his medication during the summer, however since the school year began he dosage has been increased once. I am reluctant to increase it again, which is what his teacher is suggesting. I can not keep increasing his dosage without serious concern. If the meds are not working, when are we supposed to stop and re-evaluate the situation.I need someone with some form of experience in this. Please from one concerned parent to another.

My sister and the girls are on the way over and they sent this picture of his outfit
http://www.balletcostume.com/pr13co.html
I begged him not to bet but he would not listen. He only has to take a ballet lesson for an hour but I don't know what I should do.
Do I say No or sit back and watch the ballet lesson

Hi

After school Childcare? are there any companies that collect children from school as their parents are working.

I have a 4 yr old boy in reception class in the Prestwich area of Manchester UK. His Mum wants to start work and will not be able to pick him up after school at 3.30pm weekdays, are there any companies that would collect him and look after hime for 2 1/2 hours after school or even deliver him to a relatives house? I work night shifts so can't collect him myself at 3.30pm.

Any ideas or advice much appreciated.

Thanks

My daughters teacher has told us she has problems following two step directions and that we need to work on them with her. Are there any good learning exercises to help her remember, other than the obvious of giving her directions. Sort sort of learning aids?

I'm speaking more specifically about kinders through third graders. I teach 3rd grade and am in the market for a new Christmas/holiday craft to do this year. I don't want to do something that many kids have done in earlier grades, but I don't want to do something too complicated either. What crafts has your child done, and which ones did you like the most?

I know nothing about computers...nearly nothing. Our 8yr old daughter loves downloading PC games from disk to her computer. The problem is, we've always bought her used computers and they have never lasted long or many of the new games we buy her don't work!
What should I look for in buying a computer thats main use will be for games? I want to buy her a brand new computer but don't want to spend all kind of money on something that wont work well. Please help...

Santa will be taking care of the wish list. What are some things big or small, but frugal frugal frugal that I can make/give my 8 year old son? I'm very low on funds this year and I'd rather Santa take the credit, while it lasts, on the items my son has asked for.

the situation is a little tough. You see she is at her fathers for the weekend and she gets stressed out easily and ends up with stomach aches. So this is my situation... her father lives about 30 miles away and I can go pick her up for a few hours to talk and do whatever but with the price of gas (3.49 gallon in CT) I can't afford to bring her all the way back home and its about 22 degrees outside so a local park is out of the question. What else can we do because she has already eaten lunch so that out of the question as well.

My family came to my house for Thanksgiving. And my little cousin came too. She is 12 and on Wednesday night my mom asked me to go to the store and pick up some more milk for her. Well I asked my cousin if she wanted to go with me and she was like Ummm and then her mom was like yeah go with her. The reason why she didn’t want to go with me was because her parents still make her sit in a booster seat and her mom actually took the booster seat out of her car and put it in mine. My cousin was really embarrassed and then when we left she was like I’m tired of being treated like a baby. She told me that her parents still make her sit in a booster seat in the car, and she always says she doesn’t want to sit in it and her parents tell her that she safest in it and I guess they just won’t listen to her. I guess parents know best and I guess my cousin isn’t really that big yet, shes like 4 foot 7 and 70 pounds…she hasn’t really hit her growth spurt yet. And then she started to complain about her bedtime…which is 8:30! I don’t think its that bad! I don’t really remember what time I went to bed when I was that age but it was probably around 9 o clock. Anyways, What do u guys think. Isn’t there a law about booster seats and u have to be in them until u r a certain height??? I really don’t think its that bad and I think my cousin should just listen to her parents for now.
