I'm speaking more specifically about kinders through third graders. I teach 3rd grade and am in the market for a new Christmas/holiday craft to do this year. I don't want to do something that many kids have done in earlier grades, but I don't want to do something too complicated either. What crafts has your child done, and which ones did you like the most?

I am a kindergarten teacher and I make several crafts for Christmas. We make Rudolphs. They are so cute. You first get a wire hanger then bend it into a rhombus shape and slide a ankle pantyhose over the hanger. Have your kids trace their hands on brown felt then attach to the sides for antlers. Attach googly eyes then a bright red pom pom at the end and it is so cute. We also make puzzle ornaments. I get paper plates and cut out the the circle within the middle then I cut another small circle within the middle of the circle. After that we place puzzle pieces around the circle and paint it red or green. Then I place a ribbon in the back and a picture of each kid in the back. They are a hit with the parents. One more thing we do is make wreaths using paper plates. I cut out the middle of a paper plate and then I cut small one inch by one inch squares from wrapping paper. The kids will then place it over the back of a pencil and glue the end and place it around the paper plate. I make sure to tell my students to cover the entire plate. I then put a bow on the top and their you go beautiful wreaths. Hope that helps.

Well you can't do that, but I am nearly 50 and there is still alot of child in me. I love to go and do fun things and you will relive your childhood when you have children of your own. You have that to look forward to. You should not dwell on the past and just be happy that you have these memories of childhood. I would love to be 18 again but I can't so I just make the most of every day I have. Life is way too short not to live life to its fullest. You have so much to look forward to. My daughter is also 18 and going to College and working a part time job. She pays her own bills and even pays the water bill as she is still living at home. She has her freedom which she has richly deserved because she is so responsible. She looks back on her child hood memories with great affection. We had such a great time together since the day she was born. She has a great gusto for life and the future. You should come up with a plan and then stick to it. There is so much to do in a lifetime and the time to get started is right now. You can do anything that you want to if you have the capability. How exciting is that? Good luck to you...I wish you the very best.

The kids I work with made snow pictures last year=)

Just mix elmers glue with shaving cream, to make a foamy-looking substance.

Then, the kids can paint a fun snow picture, whether it be a snowman, snowballs, etc.

The kids i work with LOVED it=]

Other than that, parents love anything to do with their child's picture, so a picture frame would also be cute. Get a few 100 piece puzzles, and spray paint all of the pieces green. the kids can glue the pieces onto "donut shaped" pieces of cardboard (or cut the middle out of mini paper plates) to make a christmas wreath picture frame. Add string, and it will make a cute ornament as well!

Good luck!

How about making Christmas birds from red construction paper, sequins and walnut shells painted gold?
Or you could make Christmas Star decorations with kids' photos on them, and decorate them with acrylic craft jewels. Then write the year on the back with a silver pen. The kids' and their families will treasure these decorations in years to come.

Take a wire coat hanger and twist it into a circle.
Take 1 by 2 inch strips of tissue paper and put one under the wire, one above it.. and twist.
It was a lot of work in the 4th grade, but it turned out kinda cool..
It made a paper wreath kinda thing

I use to teach 3rd grade and I did paper poinsettas and snowflakes. Then we blew up a big white ballon, medium white balloon and a small white balloon and made a snowman. We used velvet material circles for the mouth and nose and glued them onto the small balloon. We also did a 3D velvet material nose and shaped it like a carrot and stuck it on the ballon. We gave it stick arms and a scarf. IT was really cute!

When my girl was young, she made a Christmas picture (santa, but could be anything) by taking a piece of cardboard and drawing the outline of her pic in P.V.A glue, waiting for it to dry, then used a roller with red paint over it. It could be done with any colour.

My son isn't in school yet, but when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade the teacher got little cardboard stars and lots of different colored yarn and we glued the strips of yarn around the star until we got to the middle. My mom put that on her tree for years.

My kids love to make Salt dough ornaments. They can paint them when they are done baking and they get to be creative. The other thing they like to make is pipe cleaner snowflakes. all you need are 3 pipe cleaners per smowflake and star beads. You can also make photo frames from foam sheets and let the kids decorate with foam stickers.

I loved it when my daughter made a wreath from green construction paper - basically she traced her hand multiple times, cut them out and glued them on a "wreath shaped" piece of cardboard. So basically the entire wreath was made with little hands... Then the bow had a little message on it with glitter etc.
