What time does she go to bed? Try establishing a routine bedtime for her and make sure she goes to bed the same time every night (no later than 8:00 or 8:30) and gets up at the same time every morning (even on weekends). This will help develop routine sleep patterns and hopefully make getting up a little easier.

It sounds like there are two possibilities:
1. she doesn't like school
2. she is not getting enough sleep, or does not have a good sleep routine.
If it is the first one, then talk with her teacher and with her to find out what the problem is. She might be homesick etc. There might be a bully. She might have a learning difficulty.
If it is the second one, then you are going to have to devote 1 to 2 hours every night to a routine to get her in bed early.
ie: 6: dinner 6:30 bath 6:45 brush teeth 6:50 story 7:00 song 7:10 sleep. If you follow the exact same pattern every night it will become much easier for her to sleep peacefully and get used to waking up for school.
Good luck to you. it might be hard to establish the routine, but trust me if you do and stick with it, you will see an amazing change and her learning will improve too.

Oh no! That happened with my 5 year old last year, so I changed the time he went to bed at night. I changed it from 8:30 to 7. He had no idea, since it was dark at 7 also. Now he wakes up much better.
I'm fortunate to stay at home, so when he gets off the bus at 3, I'm guaranteed 4 hours with him. I have dinner ready at 5, so we still have enough time for shower and dessert before 7 comes rolling around. If I got off of work at 5 or 6, than I probably wouldn't put him to bed so early, I'd want to spend time with him.
I hope this helps....good luck!

Are there reasons she doesn't want to go to school, seperation anxiety, not making friends, sleeping might be an excuse. I recently started giving my daughter, also age 5, Nerve Tonic, it is homeopathic made by Hyland, available at Fred Meyer, recommended by my doctor. It helps her calm down, less anxious, as for brushing teeth, I pick my battles, they have to be brushed once a day, so far no cavities. Washing face, I've found a quick swipe with a baby wipe to be useful. Good Luck!

omg! this is my 5 year old daughter! she is such a pill in the morning. i can hardly get her to even eat breakfast. i literally have to pick her up out of bed and put her in a chair at the table. and she cant have the lights on or she will run back to her bed. we were usually RUNNING out the door to get her to school.
the only thing that kinda worked for me is getting her in bed as early as possible. i usually give her a bath at 7:15 than a story and then lights out. after a few weeks she is doing better in the morning.
every morning i just imagine what its going to be like when she is a teenager-and i am scared!!

Yes definately go to bed earlier that worked with my 5 year old but i also started gettin her up a 6 instead of 7 cuz she mopes around and it takes her awhile to get motivated and moven. So now she does real good at goin to bed by 8 and up at 6.

Put her to bed earlier and when you wake her up, plop her in the bathtub or shower before you do anything else. My kids used to have trouble waking up until I switched bathtime to the mornings instead of at night. Now they're ready for school much faster even taking into account the extra time for the shower or bath because it thoroughly wakes them up and they get dressed and ready faster.

A bucket of cold water springs to mind but somehow I don't think so. Some people just can't get up in the morning no matter what the age. Try waking her earlier after putting her to bed at a reasonable time.

She needs to go to bed earlier. She needs probably 9-11 hours of sleep.
Don't worry, it will get better, she will get used to getting up early, it just has to be a routine.
She can brush her teeth before bed. All you need is a warm wash cloth to wash her face.

Try to get a rock or metal band to come over to her house the morning when she doesn't want to get up. You take out the cymbal instruments, and when the time comes, the band will start playing and then you bang the cymbals and her father or her sibling will blow an airhorn to her ear, then shout out "_____ WAKE UP!!!", the blank is used for your child's name. If she doesn't have a father or siblings, try getting one of your neighbors to go to her home and blow an airhorn to her ear. She might not like it, but if she's going to keep being spoiled and cranky, that's what's going to happen to her until she stops being a ***** and eventually will start to get up on her own. Cheers...
